Smart meters,are they worth it.

I am being bombarded with phone calls trying to get me to have a smart meter.
My energy suppliers website says they will be 1st generation so useless if I change suppliers, the phone calls say second.
So I am not sure.I have very low energy use anyway so being told by someone in a call centre that just using energy and not caring or have a metre are my 2 choices grates a bit.
Apart from saving 2 mins a month reading a metre are there any real benefits?

It's ridiculous they're doing that and I would be concerned if the website says one thing and the phone says another (and wouldn't get a first gen one). My supplier (Bulb) just sent an email saying there were engineering in my area with a link to all the information, that was it.

We've had ours for less than a month, so still getting used to it, but what is useful on ours is that it gives all the information on current usage, the day's usage and so on to help keep track and it has a little light warning system if we go over our typical budget which is handy to help keep mindful of things.

If you are unaware that plugging in or switching on cause electricity use then maybe the (overkill / misleading) marketing has a point.

For me, I twigged long ago that if I use less I pay less.

I am very aware of what I plug in.We have an avatar 3 bed house and average use is £40 a month evened out over summer and winter for gas and electricity.(Though we have unusually got the heating on now as it is unseasonably cold). The insinuation was that if I didn't have a smart meter I was wasteful.
I have had 3 phone calls today and blocked them now.2 .emails.I asked when if I agreed would I get a definite appointment but it would only be 2 weeks notice and an 8-6 appointment so I have declined for now.
