Please help, I had a plastic my tumble rammed into my eyeball last night, it really hurt but this morning it's agony.
I can't even open my eye feels like my eyelid has razor blades on it and everytime I move my eyeball it's being sliced.
Should I call doctor or opticians?

It sounds like a corneal injury, go to A &E or if you’re near a major hospital they may have a specific eye A&E.
Corneal injuries are incredibly painful but usually heal very quickly. Fingers crossed it gets sorted soon.

Corndog · 11/06/2019 07:33

Yes. A and E.

Soontobe60 · 11/06/2019 07:34

A and e now!

ShakespearesSisters · 11/06/2019 07:34

If you came into our opticians with those symptoms we would send you to A&E rather than waiting for apt with us (even 30 mins until after finished with current patient) and then getting sent to a&e.

Cherylshaw · 11/06/2019 07:38

Thank you! I've never had an eye injury so wasn't sure!.
Cannot believe how painful it it!

A and E you need the pressures in your eye checked along with other checks.

MrsMozartMkII · 11/06/2019 07:52

Was coming on to say A&E.

Hope it's okay and the pain goes very soon.

Fairylea · 11/06/2019 07:56

Definitely A and E.

Cherylshaw · 11/06/2019 07:57

Thanks for all the replies will drop kids at nursery then head to a&e

Better to ring the Emergency Eye Department if you have one at your local hospital, far faster than going via A&E. I was diagnosed with half sight missing in one eye within 30 minutes last week. A&E wait was six hours.

Cherylshaw · 11/06/2019 08:11

We don't have an eye department it's just a little rural hospital

Would go to A&E, sight isn't something to take any chances with. Good luck, hope it's nothing serious Thanks

MrsMozartMkII · 12/06/2019 06:13

How you doing Cherylshaw?

Cherylshaw · 12/06/2019 15:02

Hi thanks for checking how I am, I have a deep scratch on my cornea and inflammation which has caused swelling! They are glad I got it checked when I did so thanks everyone for the advice!
Unable to open it still but hoping it will be back to normal in 5 days!

Oh you poor thing Flowers , my eyelid did the same when I badly scratched my cornea.

Lots of viscotears and lacrilube for at night kept me a bit sane.

It was by far one of the most painful things I have done.

Cherylshaw · 12/06/2019 15:29

I am in shock at how painful it is! I have been walking around with sunglasses on as the light is a killer!
Got lots of drops and ointments to help.
I hate dealing with eyes, can cope with anything but eyes make me feel sick, bloody nightmare 😂

DesparateDino · 12/06/2019 17:38

I think I stayed in a dark room for a couple of days. I got an eye patch and that helped a bit.

Eyes bloody hurt but they are usually quick to heal.

All the best.

MrsMozartMkII · 12/06/2019 18:58

Gilead you're, at least comparatively, okay.

I hope it heals quickly and well!

Cherylshaw · 13/06/2019 17:51

Thanks everyone I can open it today so on the mend!!

Good to hear you're on the mend :)

Soontobe60 · 13/06/2019 23:04

I had bacterial conjunctivitis once in one eye. It was probably the most painful thing ever! My eye was pouring with smelly pus, my eyeball was all wrinkled up and the white was dirty yellow, and the pain was like red hot razor blades every time I moved. It took a week of antibiotics to start to clear it up. I ihad to wear an eye patch all week.
