Can you help me remember a play please??

It was set in a Victorian women's prison. About a woman that goes in to educate (I think??) the prisoners.

I had thought it was called Lady Gray or the Woman in Gray, but Google is helping me!

Not Our Country's Good by Timberlake Wertenbaker, about some Victorian convicts sent to Australia who put on a production of The Recruiting Officer? i saw that years ago and it was brilliant but doesn't quite fit your description.

the first thing that came to mind was Affinity, which is not a play, but stranger things have happened on MN - last time we were trying to help someone who remembered a completely wrong century for what they wanted!

It was a play I was in at school.

It's probably about the famous prison reformer Elizabeth Fry. Does that ring any bells?

I've found one called 'Light in the Darkness' about Elizabeth Fry - could that be it?
