Ant bait station and toddler

Would it be ok to leave ant bait stations hidden away in cupboard where I think ants come in?
I ask because I have an almost walking child and they will not be within his reach but does the bait stick to the ants and they trawl it around the floor where he might crawl etc?
If these are a no no then is there any other way to get rid of ants? I am cleaning up as much as necessary and getting quite meticulous now

Do you know where the nest is? Kettle of boiling water (horrid I know).

Where are they ingressing? Tiny holes can be stopped with clear nailpolish blobs.

I can see some ants congregating in the door way between kitchen and living area, there is a door bar missing so it’s concrete between so must be some gap through there to outside where they come in???
I can’t do hot water there and also it’s too big an area to do nail polish as I can’t see exactly where they coming in...
it’s by a cupboard and they keep coming in and out of there too. This cupboard is only storage and nothing food related, the boiler is there

I've always used them. They seal really well.

Personally, having had ants in my kitchen cupboards, I'd do it. The amount of poison that will be on a floor will be miniscule - the ants carry it back, but will not want it to be spread over the floor either!

Kitchen or bathroom cleaner sprays with bleach was quite good at dissuading them from coming in if you caught them early enough. Maybe put toddler in pushchair, with everything packed to go out, spray liberally, and go out. Clear up on your return?

We have also (and I dont know if you can get this in the uk) got external ant spray, and went round the outside of the house - are they likely to be coming from the garden, or one of the other 3 sides? You could maybe spray the three sides of the house the garden isnt?

I HATE finding ants in my kitchen. I am moving tomorrow, and cant wait to be in a country with less greedy ants!

I used to put talcum powder where the ants come in. They won't walk on it as they don't like the feel of it so it contains them but doesn't kill them. I used it because it is harmless and I had dogs. Since we had a new kitchen we don't get them.

There are some natural solutions if you google. We put down coffee ground across the door threshold and it solved the problem and totally toddler friendly.
