Post pregnancy leakage

My baby is 6 weeks old and when I fart, I leak urine. Sometimes I feel sort of a pumping action at the same time. I don't think I wee when coughing or sneezing or blowing my nose. How normal is this?

I fully recognise that I need to see a gp, but I've only just realised what is happening as my bleeding has just stopped. It is midnight here, and I can't do much until tomorrow.

Any sort of incontinence should not be considered normal. It happens, but it isn’t “normal”.

I’d ask for a referral to a women’s health physio. The GP may refuse and tell you to do pelvic floor exercises, but in my experience it’s easy to do them wrong. Physios really know their stuff.

Thank you! That was very poor word choice! I should have asked if I was alone. Late at night it is easy to feel alone and despondent about health issues. I've already had some weird birth injuries and didn't want this to be another one

A physio referral is standard after the 6 week check, but I will push for it to be sooner if at all possible.

Great Smile I hope you find it helpful. I wanted to point out how not “normal” is it, because so many women are lead to believe that incontinence and minor prolapses are just inevitable consequences of childbirth.
