What to spend £70 on in Argos

Hi, I have been given a £70 gift card for Argos, and don’t know what to get. I don’t want to keep it, since Argos is one of those shops that could go bust at any moment, and then the money is lost.

Any suggestions? What would you get?

See if you can use it to buy a £70 gift card for a shop that you do shop in, or just a supermarket. I've done this in the past, but I don't know if they still allow it. Or you might be able to use it to pay in Sainsburys as I think Sainsburys owns Argos.

Kindle?
Bedding/towels/suitcases/kettle/toaster?

Argos sells everything, so you need to think about what you need (duvets, pillows, toaster, lamp, kettle, kids toys for next Christmas or birthdays) or what you want (tu clothes, electronics you couldn't normally afford etc) or whether you want to put it towards something bigger like garden furniture or an appliance.

Always read the reviews first...

Do you have kids? What do you like and want?

Anyone's birthdays coming up that you need to buy for?

Early Christmas shopping?

AltogetherAndrews · 10/06/2019 09:37

Yeah this is the thing, it’s too wide a choice, and there’s nothing specific I need. I didn’t know they do gift cards, I’ll check that out.

It’s Dds birthday soon, but she has asked for something I can get for much less elsewhere

Id buy a bistro set. Probably have to put a bit extra on it

neddle · 10/06/2019 10:13

I wonder if they have any ravens left from Halloween?

Absoluteunit · 10/06/2019 10:22

I was lucky to recently win an Argos voucher and I bought a Babyliss Big Hair, a new paddling pool and some 2 for £15 toys for kids parties

I really don't think argos is going to go bust any time soon, now that it is owned by sainsburys. I might see whether they will let me use it to buy another gift card for somewhere I'd actually buy something

Nottobesoldseparately · 10/06/2019 11:41

I'd get garden stuff, but I'm wanting new planters and solar lights. Plus some secateurs and a new bird table/feeder.

We got a BBQ and cover from there a few years ago. It's been a great buy, we've been really impressed with the quality and it's stood the test of time with all the really bad snow and rain.

foreverhanging · 10/06/2019 11:53

Hair products? Foot spa? Garden bits?

MyDcAreMarvel · 10/06/2019 11:56

You are way over thinking this 1) Argos is not a risk of going bust any time soon.
2) what can’t you buy in Argos?
Just keep it until you need practically anything!

ElizaPancakes · 10/06/2019 12:06

I recently bought an Xbox one remote and a scooter. Oh, also a bed frame.

Dec2019mumtobe · 10/06/2019 12:18

What about getting a head start on Christmas or birthday shopping and stashing away?

AltogetherAndrews · 10/06/2019 12:32

Quite like the bbq idea, keep meaning to get one
