My dream life

Little old cottage in remote countryside. Couple of acres. Grow my own food. A cottage garden full of flowers. Wood smoke drifting on the breeze. Make my own clothes. No light pollution. No traffic noise. No litter. Peace. No mobile. No phone. Keep bees. My own stream and well.

A donkey sanctuary.

I'd just be happy to buy a normal family house in a non-dodgy bit of my hometown tbh.

Leafyhouse · 09/06/2019 15:54

3 houses. Flat in the big city, house by the coast, ski apartment. Spend retirement flitting between the three. And lots of foreign travel. Just gotta keep plugging on...

Loft in Manhattan and enough money to be a lady who lunches.
With another house on the Northumberland coast, sea views and log burners.

I wouldn’t want to be filthy rich but would love to have enough to be comfortable. I love where I live now but would get done all the stuff that needs doing & landscape the garden. Would buy another property in the country & a holiday property abroad, not sure where. I would probably change my car, although I do really like my current one. I would be able to give my DD more opportunities & pay for her to do lots of activities. I think in my dream life I would still work as I enjoy it but it would be good to know I didn’t need to. Definitely I would have more me time, with pampering & lots more meeting up with friends. At the moment I hardly see anyone.
Another very important thing would be to get DD properly diagnosed so that we can help her ( we have suspected for some time that she is on the spectrum but she masks well).
My DM would be completely well & DF able to hear perfectly. My DB & family would live closer to us rather than 4 hours away. Oh & travel - I’d do loads more as there are so many places I haven’t seen. And I wouldn’t be a huge worrier!

Great thread btw

I quite like to be able to buy a bottle of wine over a tenner when ever I want and not think it’s expensive... #dreambig 😂

Pipandmum · 09/06/2019 17:02

SherlockHolmesPipe your dream is my nightmare! I could do maybe a week there but give me a city penthouse any day!

OnlineAlienator · 09/06/2019 17:06

Tiny cottage v, v remote - NO neighbours, but excellent wifi Grin

Vegetable patch and orchard, maybe 5acres incl. a little pasture for a couple of cows and handful of sheep, perhaps a pair of ponies/donkeys/mules and an old barn for them. Traditional pig sty.

Inside huge fireplace, loads of books and a really comfy chair to read, write, knit and sew in.

@SherlockHolmesPipe I have a friend who lives your dream life exactly. It always feels like a magical place when we visit and we completely unwind and relax.

SherlockHolmesPipe · 09/06/2019 18:30

A new build. Detached. Everything grey and from Next. A nice garden with some decking and a play structure for DD. A hot tub.

Mine is just a fancier version of my actual life, but with more dogs.

toffee1000 · 09/06/2019 22:06

God I love inventing a dream/fantasy life, to the point where I almost wish it doesn’t come true as it might not live up to my expectations! BlushGrin

Nice house somewhere in London (money no object obviously). Plus a flat in Berlin and then somewhere in NYC or LA. I’d have a gorgeous (possibly redhaired, I am myself) DH and beautiful DC. I am either an author or a screenwriter. I have guinea pigs and maybe some rabbits.

I also wouldn’t live in the middle of nowhere, I’d go crazy! I can understand the appeal for some though. The main drawback for me would be in case someone got seriously ill/hurt and the hospital would be miles away.
