This trend for swaddling your baby until they look like a strange worm for a photoshoot?!

Where on earth did it come from?

I keep seeing these poor contorted newborns on FB. They look like baby ETs Shock

Swaddling's a centuries old practice that is thought to give the baby comfort and a feeling of being back in the womb.

Better than those stupid cake smash photos.

I hate it. People treating their children like accessories.

Add in cringey pregnancy shoots, gender reveals (vom) etc and it’s almost as if people have kids just for bloody social media. I just want to say “no one cares!! Really” we’ve all had kids. I think mine is perfect and wonderful, I don’t care about anyone else’s, and I don’t expect anyone to care about mine the way I do.

I get swaddling.

I don't get this

I completely agree about the photoshoots, baby showers and gender reveals.

Another bugbear is celebrity books about birth and child rearing: you're not the first and won't be last.

I think the worst thing about that photo is not the contorted baby, but the ridiculous hairband!

BlackCatSleeping · 09/06/2019 10:22

Meh, live and let live.

Not my cup of tea, but I don't see the harm in them.

HopeClearwater · 09/06/2019 10:46

Yes why do people keep stretching elastic bands round perfectly cute babies’ heads?

Fantababy · 09/06/2019 10:57

They look like pontipines. I briefly considered a newborn photo shoot when DD3 was born but all the poses were so weird I decided to wait till she can sit up.

Rainbowknickers · 09/06/2019 11:19

The only reason I swaddled dc3 is I hadn’t slept for 6 months and it was the only thing that got me through his first year
The pics are just wrong
Don’t get me started on those hair bands or those (even worse but now in trend) massive hair bows-it’s like every girl under the age of ten wears them-and often they are bigger than the child’s head!
