Talking to my friend this evening and she doesn't believe that I haven't seen an Earwig since the late 90s? Same for woodlouce has anyone else seen them recently I'm sure their extinct now I genuinely haven't seen one since about 1999. Shock

Weird we saw a dead stag beetle yesterday that's the second dead one I've seen in a few days? Also googled thunder bugs as never seen one before and I'm glad I haven't they seem scary!

I remember tiny tiny red spiders/ mites being everywhere in my childhood but I don’t think I’ve seen them since the 90s.

I see those mites every day on my window sill.

I have loads of tiny beasties in my garden. We counted 11 ladybirds on one small branch of laurel a few weeks ago - all spring we had loads of them, in fact. And we've plenty of woodlice, and there's a snail halfway up my patio door at the moment, the eejit. I've never seen a stag beetle at all though.

We had ladybirds nesting in our front porch one year. It was a proper pita tbh. I haven't seen a thunderfly in years.

I think the ladybird summer (which I do remember) was caused by the heatwave. There were loads of greenflies so the ladybirds came into towns to eat them all. At one point the paths were so covered in them that you'd crunch hundreds underfoot just walking to the shop.

I WISH we had woodlice. We have a damp house but none because we have the nastiest beast like spiders that eat them and they terrify me

the windshield phenomenon insect numbers are dropping! The best visual representation of this that people can relate to is that you no longer need to wash all the dead bugs off your car after a summer evening drive. Your windshield remains clear...
