Gtube venting problems

Is Anyone else having problems with this? We have a 5 year old boy with a gtube and have never been able to vent him without literally turning him upside down and he's too big for that now.

Hi OP

We're just giving this a bump for you. Flowers

Have you tried doing it with a longer extender, or using a kangaroo set, so you can get it lower down? Nothing more satisfying than when the water bubbles up like a volcano. One of the parents at work used to always let me vent her daughters tube as she Knew I found it very satisfying! I need to get out more.

*extension set. Not extender.

What is a "kangaroo set?"

We tried a Farrel Valve and that did not work.

When I last saw one a kangaroo set was a bit like a 60ml syringe with a long giving set so you can get it further away from the body, I am not sure if you can still get hold of them. We used to use them for venting and for bolus feeds.

Are you a member of pint (pinnt?), I would ask on their group.

I read an interesting article by a gastro who was saying how all tubes are designed for feeding so aren’t very good at drainage and that a tube specifically made for drainage is needed.

I hope someone has a trick that will work for your son
