What is this?!?

Hope the photo has worked.

I found this on the upstairs landing floor a couple of days ago. It’s very pretty! But... what is it? Where has it come from? I don’t even have the start of an idea of what it could be! I think it looks a bit like a key maybe for winding a clock? By we don’t have any clocks that wind.

Good guess ,looks exactly like a key for winding clocks ,pocket watches ,maybe a key for something else ?

It looks like two different things stuck together , the brass / copper looks old , the steel / sliver looks newer. Will the two bits come apart ?

Does the silver part twist apart into two bits? It looks rather like these little capsule things my parents used to safety pin to us when we were small. You could unscrew them and inside would be a tiny bit of paper with our phone number/name on it.

I'm sure it's for a pocket/fob watch .The keys are often two different metals ,I expect the lower end that does the winding has to be a harder metal than brass so that it doesn't wear and loose it's shape .

Ah ha! Mystery probably solved! My dad gave DH an antique pocket watch for our wedding, I bet it’s the wonder for that!! No idea what it was doing on the landing floor but I’ll pop it away somewhere safe now!
