We are house hunting in the Godalming area, and during a recent viewing I spotted a potential MN stunt pineapple (see pic).

Made me smile, if the seller is a MNer I wanted them to know their code has been understood Grin You have a lovely home!

Wtf is a stunt pineapple?

violetbunny · 06/06/2019 23:55

Haha love a stunt pineapple. Good spotting, OP! Grin

BloomedAgain · 06/06/2019 23:55

I'd forgotten about stunt pineapples!

CakeNinja · 06/06/2019 23:56

Also wanting to ask wtf is a stunt pineapple?!
Up until about 7 o clock this evening we had one of those sitting in our fruit bowl but it didn’t do anything... Is it a particular variety that performs tricks?!
Also, I’m only a couple of miles from Milford... Confused

CakeNinja · 06/06/2019 23:57

I’ve googled it and MN pages are the first 5 things that come up Grin
I’ve been here for years and never heard of them!

Eeeeeby · 06/06/2019 23:57

Nah, it's just a pineapple. If you were going to the effort of placing a stunt pineapple, you would take the bananas and grapes out of their packaging. You would also hide the shit bread.

PinkHeartLovesCake · 07/06/2019 00:00

People that have stunt pineapples 🍍 don’t buy cheap 50/50 bread

What you've found is just a pineapple

Wooterus · 07/06/2019 00:01

@Eeeeeby, I wondered if it might have been purchased for photos and now just be languishing in the fruit bowl...uneaten because it's just a prop?!

For anyone unaware, there have been many MN threads in the past advocating the use of a stunt pineapple to tart up one's house when selling... i.e. nobody normally buys them but they make your house look fancy. I am always on the lookout for them to see if the seller is a MNer!

Is it pineapple for show?

I saw a bargain 49p pineapple in Tesco recently the day we were due to go on holiday (in the UK). I bought it, packed it & took it on holiday, reasoning it would ripen whilst we were away. It rook so long to ripen, I had to bring it home again a week later. It was just right 2 days after we got back. Was it a stunt pineappke for the duration of our holiday?

Eeeeeby · 07/06/2019 00:06

@boatyardblues Nope, that's just a ripening pineapple. Not stunt.

FreezerBird · 07/06/2019 00:07

Was it a stunt pineappke for the duration of our holiday?

It wanted a holiday and used you to get one. I think that makes it a cunning stunt pineapple.

mustdrivesoon · 07/06/2019 00:10

Def not a stunt pineapple. A stunt pineapple would never be placed beside fruit in their plastic wrap or containers.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 07/06/2019 00:35

That ain’t no stunt pineapple. This is though and they’ve gone for the double.

FreezerBird Grin

I agree, OP, maybe a retired stunt pineapple. Languishing among less high falutin' fruits, and (oh the shame) bagged bread.

Tartyflette · 07/06/2019 00:48

I tried putting out a stunt pineapple once - when the house first went on the market. It looked the business.
But sadly we had no viewers and had to eat it ourselves before it went off. ☺️

managedmis · 07/06/2019 00:51

What's that half and half stuff chucked on top?

managedmis · 07/06/2019 00:52

Also, side note, have you realised how much sodding pineapple I. E. The fruit, that there actually is in a whole one? Loads, that's how much.

I bought one for the kids, chopped it up, nearly cut my fingers off and they don't fucking like pineapple, they want Mini Rolls.

So I've been eating it all week instead. There's so much of it!

Rory4Leader · 07/06/2019 00:57

Bananas in plastic bags, grapes in plastic tubs and WTAF is that in the 50/50 plastic packaging? You mean they buy mass-produced "bread"?

Ugh. No amount of fresh pineapple can ever compensate for that abomination, sorry. Null points. Don't buy this house.

MummyParanoia101 · 07/06/2019 01:19

@managedmis Saw this on Facebook. Apparently this is how you're meant to eat Pineapple 🤷🏼‍♀️ Might help next time

@BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo that is a stunning effort! MN royalty, clearly.

Hollowvictory · 07/06/2019 08:12

Yes leaving the fruit in bags detracts from the stunt. Dont buy the house. 😂

LaMarschallin · 07/06/2019 08:36

Found out about stunt pineapples by Go Ogling. Someone wondered whether the queen has one on a (an?) MN thread.
Don't know if she does, but she cares about what people think (or is just très, très* polite; probably more likely, tbf), it seems.
Apparently when an author visits, their most recent book is artlessly left out on a table with a bookmark placed more than half way through it.
A nice touch, I think.
Not sure what would be the equivalent in my social circles. An episode of Jeremy Kyle RIP** where they started to kick off and the mahoosive security chap had to wander on, paused halfway through on the television?

*Sorry. Pretentious.
**The show RIP. Not JK himself, obviously.

BarbaraofSevillle · 07/06/2019 09:43

Isn't that just a fruit bowl Confused.

If it was a stunt pineapple, the grapes and bananas would all be artfully arranged with the pineapple and the crappy sliced bread would be hidden away in a cupboard somewhere.

And if it is a Mumsnetter, you should know that I'm judging you for buying plastic wrapped bananas. Where have you been for the last couple of years?
