On Monday we found out our dog has chf (congestive heart failure) we had a choice to put him to sleep then and there. We didn’t we brought him home and he’s now on meds two different tablets one for his heart and one for the fluid. They take 7 days to kick in. I’m just at a loss the vet said he might only live months but on the other hand he could live years. I just hate seeing him struggle to breathe every day which heavy breathing is common with what he has. I’m second guessing myself it’s hard work looking after him now everything just upside down.I don’t want to put my dog down I just want to do what’s best for him any advice

Heartbreaking.

Be guided by your head not your heart in order to do what’s best for him.

If you think he’s in pain and suffering you have to let him go.

At the moment he is on medication so let that kick in and see how he is during the seven days.

I hope his heart condition can be managed and he won’t suffer.

I think you are doing the right thing at the moment - you are giving him that chance, and if he can get through the next 7 days and the tablets kick in, you will not have to second guess yourself. I think its best to play it day by day and take it from there. Keep strong 💐
