Would you put your oven on to heat up while you go out for half an hour?

Because that's what I'm thinking of doing so I can put the dinner in when I get home. Something is telling me it might not be sensible though...

I would but it's a personal risk assessment thing.

NaToth · 06/06/2019 18:09

I would. I do. We're all still here.

Aimily · 06/06/2019 18:10

Yep I have a couple of times, also put jacket potatoes in and left them for 45 mins while popping out, no different to leaving a slow cooker on all day?

BlueSkiesLies · 06/06/2019 18:10

Yeah probably

UnderPompeii · 06/06/2019 18:11

OK I'm doing it, thanksGrin

Yes - my cooker takes about a week to heat up. I really must buy a new one.

Ni58 · 06/06/2019 18:11

I’d be happier leaving it hot and empty than with something in it.

ThisMustBeMyDream · 06/06/2019 18:11

Yes I would, and do. I'll put things in that take a while like baked potatoes, nip to the shop, or to get the kids from school etc.

UnderPompeii · 06/06/2019 18:13

LordProf My old gas oven was like that, gas mark 9 about an hour before you needed it. New fan oven is bliss!

Actually, I could cope with baked potatoes.
I’d worry myself sick with something like a roast or even a casserole.

drspouse · 06/06/2019 18:15

I frequently put the oven on a timer while I take the DCs swimming or wherever.

UnderPompeii · 06/06/2019 18:16

Yeah I don't think I'd put anything in that needed checking. I just want to cook dinner in a pre heated oven but jackets are a good idea too.

i would, but i'd also set a 'stop' time so it turns off should i get run over or similar Grin

UnderPompeii · 06/06/2019 18:17

drspouse ooh I wonder if I have a timer

Right. Oven is on. If the house burns down while I'm out I'm blaming you lot.
