Really good US campsite with cabins?

Hi all - thinking of a US trip summer 2020 and would like to stay in a great campsite for a week as part of the trip. We have an only DS, who will be 11 then, thought he'd make friends and it might be fun.

We are quite open as to where at the moment as just exploring the idea.

Must haves: swimming, swimming and swimming. Good for families. And cabins.
Maybe in a national park, and not more than a day's drive from a big city for access (or max two as I guess we might overnight in a motel). It'll be August, so maybe somewhere not too humid but nice and warm. Mid to high 20's preferably.

I know that's very very vague but thought I'd see if anyone had an idea - I've googled and there just so many my head is dizzy. In the end, we'll probably decide where to fly in and work from there but maybe someone has a fabulous suggestion?

Thanks!

I’d pick an area you are interested in and go from there. The US is massive.

Big meadow, in Shenandoah national park, is amazing. Fabulous cabins and huts. You can also take motorhomes there.

Www.koa.com would be a good starting point

Yosemite national park is amazing

Good Sam are a good starting point too - we stayed in a few last year on our road trip. (We had our caravan with us though)

Yosemite is going to be heaving and not really a family activity type place. You’re there to see Yosemite.

The perfect place in summer is Maine.

I have friends who go here every year because their kids love it www.polandspringcamp.com/

I've also heard rave reviews about this place, and it's near Camden and Acadia National Park

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll look at them all. I know it was a vague question but some ideas here thanks!
