Why don't some people (especially kids) like their food touching?

just curious really.

Do people who don't like food touching cope well with things like chunky chicken and veg soup? or is it a no-no?

Im like this, this probably wont make sense but it makes me feel sick when i have beans on a plate and they are touching my chips for example. I think its the making the other food soggy that does it. So i just dont eat mushy peas/beans/plum tomatoes stuff like that when im out because i feel like an idiot asking for them in a seperate bowl. Curry and spag bol i have seperated on a plate too, i find it gets worse when im stressed and anxious.

My youngest has issues around food textures - anything too mixed he struggles with so casserole or spag bol are a big no no, he’ll happily eat the components separately. Similar texture mixed up he’s ok with, often eats things in a certain order too.

He was tube fed for his first few years and had an abnormal swallow so it’s just a hangup from that and he likes to have ‘control’ over his meals. He eats a good varied diet so we don’t stress over it!

Dd has ASD, but her food issues are generally around other people.
She can't stand to be near people eating and she'd rather eat alone.
Her major thing, which I also have is getting dirty hands whilst eating.
We won't eat ribs, or wings, or anything sticky.

I don't know why but some foods, for me, should be served a certain way. Chips for example should not touch anything soggy such as beans, curry, mushy peas or gravy. They can be dipped in a runny egg though. I think it's too do with how they feel in my mouth.
