Birthday gift for 5 year old

Can I just ask what birthday gifts were big hits at 5? We don't know what to get DD, normally she has something in mind. She has lots of dolls, a scooter and balance bike, she's not hugely into Lego or crafts, she's never had barbies etc, except one sad abandoned Lottie doll. Favourite toys at the moment are pretend food (she has a mini pretend kitchen) and some Go Jetters that came free with a magazine Hmm

LOL dolls, cutie tooties and poopsie unicorns

RickAstleyGaveMeUp · 06/06/2019 13:24

Thanks :) I reckon she would love opening that kind of thing, but suspect it would only get played with for 5 minutes then forgotten.

Possibly Sylvanian Families?
A furreal type dog/cat/parrot/dolphin?

Board games/ not quite board games like Don’t wake granny.

These little weird food making sets have been popular with my DC:

Good water gun for the summer holidays.

Remote control car

Ffs, sorry I fucked up the link there.

Nifflerbowtruckle · 06/06/2019 13:53

Would she like a dress up chefs outfit if she's enjoying the pretend food and kitchen.

BrieAndChilli · 06/06/2019 14:03

DD loved our generation dolls. they have lots of playsets such as an icecream van, retro diner etc

bananaskinsnomnom · 06/06/2019 14:03

If she likes food, shopping till and a trolley/basket?
New pram or buggy for baby?
Playmobil or sylvanian family sets - does she like small world toys much?
New arts and crafts was always an easy one for me - used to love opening up brand new packs of descent get tips and art sets!

bananaskinsnomnom · 06/06/2019 14:04

Felt tips not get tips!

My 5 1/2 year olds favourite toys are her vtech camera, roller skates, stationary, frisbee, bike, remote control car, binoculars bird watching set, and books with audiocds (such as ‘Mustard, Custard, Grumble Belly and Gravy’ which has lots of funny rhymes), hope that helps!

APurpleSquirrel · 06/06/2019 14:17

Our DD turns 5 in September - her main present is going to be tickets to see The Lion King at the theatre with DH & I (& no little DS). Was also planning to get her some more books, a jewellery box, some new bedcovers, & a joint present with DS of a mud kitchen for the garden.

mogtheexcellent · 06/06/2019 14:17

dolls house wirh sylvanian familes. My nearly 5 year old loves hers. She never really played with dolls either.

We are giving her a kindle for her 5th birthday though. I think. Havent decided yet so may save it for christmas.

bookmum08 · 06/06/2019 14:23

How about a First Cooking book accessories set - upgrade from the pretending to cook to actually cooking!

SleepyPaws · 06/06/2019 14:30

How about a mud kitchen? Our DD got one for her birthday and it's been a big hit. I've given her some old kitchen utensils and cake/cupcake tins to go with it. She made me a lovely mud cake for Mothers Day!

RickAstleyGaveMeUp · 06/06/2019 15:34

I don't honestly understand what a mud kitchen is for Blush

Anyone with a 5yo boy? She isn't necessarily into 'girls toys', although the Sylvanian Families could go down well.
