Dreading work today

I had a seizure at work on Tuesday. It’s not the first time but this is the first in the open plan office. I’m so embarrassed that i’m Lying here crying and I want to hide away for ever. I wish I didn’t have epilepsy, it’s just so unfair.

In practical terms, could you get a medical ID bracelet with your DH's telephone number and an epilepsy tag? I have DH as my emergency contact under medical info on my iPhone which you can access without unlocking it but not everyone would know how to use it, hence the bracelet.

I get the gibberish thing, I vaguely remember trying to remember how many DC I had and how old they were. I remember being frightened I was late to pick them up from nursery - they are actually teens and adults!

Had it happened to someone when I was at work, my only concern would have been that they were ok now, and to know the best thing to do if it happened again. I'm sure your colleagues will feel the same.
Hope you are coping today OP.

@WeBuiltCisCityOnSexistRoles I’ve resisted a Medi bracelet up until now but have looked now and am coming around to the idea. I’ve felt so ashamed and embarrassed about having epilepsy for so long that it feels like announcing it to the world by wearing one but I guess I need to get over that.

@StandardPoodle Feeling better today thanks. Still quite achy but it’s to be expected. I’m just glad that people didn’t make a fuss at work.

I am using my shouty voice here!

DO NOT BE EMBARRASSED ABOUT HAVING EPILEPSY!

It is part of you and nothing to be embarrassed about!

How are you now HotChocolate? Was it mentioned at work at all? Re medi bracelets you don't have to have stainless steel ones, I just have "beads on strings" bracelets which spell (number?) out my DH's mobile number, with an epilepsy tag. Or you could get an engraved plain silver bangle etc? My bead ones can be turned round so the information is on the inside so it's just a "normal" bracelet unless you look. We shouldn't be embarrassed but equally we don't have to have obvious medical alert stuff there are lots of nice personalised bracelets on Etsy.

Hopefully that makes sense, I'm a bit groggy as ironically I also had a seizure this week and feel like shit plus I dislocated my shoulder so badly it's all strapped up waiting for the trauma clinic and really fucking painful! So also typing one handed! I'm really beyond fed up so Thanksand Cake all round!

Thanks everyone. I’m feeling better now @VincentVanGoughandhisear THANKS!!! For once I like to hear a shouty voice on MN. Sorry to hear about your seizure @CatsAndKittensWearingMittens It’s kind of depressing when it happens but I guess it’s the nature of the beast so to speak 😢😢 Still not fun though, sending hugs and hope you feel better soon.
