Have you ever recognised yourself/someone else on MN?

I had this thought today whilst waiting for the bus, we all change info so not to be recognisable, but I wonder whether anyone has ever read a thought about themselves?

I can't be the only one who reads new threads hoping it's not about them? 😂

Goodness me! I'm not drunk, I promise (though I feel a bit under the weather)!

*thread about themselves

I've recognised people I know, twice. Once from a Facebook post that was also posted on here, and another just from details. Both times I told them so they could name change if they wanted to

I recognised someone I vaguely know, kind of embarrassing as I had been out for coffee with her stbexh (she left him) just as friends (I promise) and here she was ranting about him seeing someone already, he's not I promise you, just someone in the same boat.

So interesting, as you would think that if you're friends with like-minded people, they might use MN. Nightmare

A few yes - it's quite eye-opening the web of lies people spin. There was one whom I know had an abortion because her husband gave her the ultimatum "it's me or the baby" (she'd cheated on him and they both knew it wasn't his) - but spun it around these parts as a necessary medical termination.

A few others blethering about inconsequential stuff - when I've let them know I've recognised them, they've had meltdowns. Most odd.

I've recognised a colleague and another colleague has recognised me. We are all pretty open mumsnetters. I do name change periodically just because I like a change.

My cousin recognised me. Wasn’t fussed as I never post anything too personal on here.
