Phonic blending sounds year 1

I have a interview tomorrow for a t/a role, never done anything like this before!

I have been asked to prepare a practical activity for Y1 students to teach/consolidate blending sounds into words

I have lots of ideas for the activity but unsure of what words/sounds to use, it's been a long time since I had children in primary and I'm worried about it being big to easy or to hard

What is your year 1 currently learning

Year 1's are about to do the phonics screen check and the safest bet as revision is either split vowel digraphs or adjacent consonants. These are the things that children often get stuck on. Good luck!

So I'd do something that involves sound buttoning words for segmenting then blending together.

Google NC appendix 1 year 1- this details all the graphemes that are to be taught in year 1. It all sits within letters and sounds phase 5 phonics.

It’s worth looking at YouTube videos of phonics being taught. The read write inc. ones are good. Keep the pace up and don’t make it too hard. Simplicity is key in an interview session.
