Bloody Tax Credits!!

Hi,
Has anybody had this problem with tax credits? We don't get very much at all per week as we both work full time, albeit in low paying jobs. Irrelevant detail but there you go - conscious of being called a benefit scrounger! I renewed our claim online last tuesday, 28th May. I usually get paid on a Tuesday and today, exactly one week since renewing online, the payments have stopped! No letter, no email, no phone call, nothing. Just stopped. Has this happened to anybody at all before? Don't really know what to do

I renewed online, my payments changed within a week.

Letters always take a while. Are you sure your still entitled?

15YemenRoadYemen · 04/06/2019 15:41

Possibly not still entitled, that is a good point, wages have increased since the last renewal, not by much but maybe enough to have an effect on the amount we got. Hmm, maybe it is that!! Thanks!

Oh no don't say that about owing them money!! I truly wish we didn't need the help - I don't think a year has gone by in the last 15 years that I haven't had threatening letters from them saying that I owe them thousands of pounds. I can't imagine any other company being able to get away with such gross incompetence on a regular basis.

I hate the annual renewal, waiting to see if you owe them money...

Good luck

doleritedinosaur · 04/06/2019 16:06

You can see your future payments online where you renewed. Tells you how much you’re getting when. It’s faster than the letters.

15YemenRoadYemen · 04/06/2019 16:24

doleritedinosaur Since I submitted the renewal last week it won't let me view future/past payments. I could previously, it would show the date each week and then the amount but now when I go in online it just says "You can amend your renewal until 31 July" and if I choose the "continue without renewing" option then there isn't a way to see payments at all.

Are you being switched to UC? If so good luck

SeasideSoul · 04/06/2019 16:57

No, well at least I haven't heard anything about being switched to UC. I have only just started receiving tax credits again in April, after having had them stopped for nearly 2 years because of what they said what as an over-payment. Now it looks like they have stopped again. It is just so frustrating.

SeasideSoul · 04/06/2019 16:58

I had NC'd for this post. Didn't want it associated with my usual name. Bit of a fail then! Typical!

Cannyhandleit · 04/06/2019 17:27

It's because of your renewal, the changes always take place before they notify you! I did my renewal all the info was right, out income was spot on so shouldn't have been any over/under payments at all but today's payment was half of what we normally get with next months payment set to be our normal amount! No letter received yet but I know from experience if I phone I will be told it is them recalculating and making up for an overpayment! It's a ridiculous system !

IVEgottheDECAF · 04/06/2019 18:52

Sounds to me like your not entitled anymore op

I could see my new payments online within a few days, think i have 6 weeks of reduced payments then back to roughly what the old payment was

doleritedinosaur · 04/06/2019 21:03

That’s really weird that can’t be seen. Are you able to phone them?

Thanks for this post as I’ve forgotten to renew ours but will leave it until after July payment now.
