Mystery Tray of Seedlings

A couple of weeks ago I found an envelope with some seeds in which I had helpfully written 'seeds' on 🤷‍♀️

I S owed them quite shallow. They got going quickly within a few days. The seeds were the size of sesame seeds and dark.

Any ideas?

Following with interest. I found a mystery seed inside an old purse from years ago, no idea what it is! Its now growing on my windowsill but I'm still clueless!

Would love to see it!

Radishes maybe?

whojamaflip · 04/06/2019 10:44

Land cress?

headinhands · 04/06/2019 11:29

Pulled one up and none of the stalk is reddish at any point. Does that rule out radish?

It's tricky to tell as they've only got their seed leaves so far. They could be cress, radish etc but you might have to wait till their first true leaves come through.

Opium poppies.

headinhands · 05/06/2019 15:35

Thanks all. Gonna pot them on and wait.

My husband has helpfully suggested it's marijuana. He thinks he's funny cos he's super straight laced and I'm a bit more relaxed about 'things' 😃

Looks like some basil I sowed this spring?

headinhands · 05/06/2019 16:54

I'd love it to be basil. Or rocket. Or radishes. Worst outcome would be marigolds or some such hideous flower. Sorry marigold fans.

Some kind of cress I think.

ErrolTheDragon · 05/06/2019 17:13

Could be lots of things at this stage - did you collect any seeds last year?

I think cress seeds are brown, not particularly dark?

Maybe a long shot but they don't look completely unlike very young aquilegia (which has seeds matching your description)

Loyaultemelie · 05/06/2019 18:17

Dh says raddish or mustard. (Veg farmer)

Scrowy · 05/06/2019 18:21

Definitely something salady I reckon

RezCowgirl · 05/06/2019 19:47

They look like brassica cotyledons. The first set of true leaves would give a better indication.

headinhands · 27/06/2019 17:11

I think they're radishes.

Or are they? The true leaves are serrated.
