Pants under pajamas

Today in a discussion at work I was seen as the crazy person because I wear pants underneath my pajamas... is this unusual or are my colleagues winding me up?

I was really confused at wearing trousers under PJ's, glad to see you meant knickers!

Never no knickers under PJ's, I like feeling 'gathered up' iyswim Grin

UnderPompeii · 04/06/2019 19:37

I don't wear pants. I don't change my PJs every day. I haven't died yet.

ladybee28 · 04/06/2019 19:37

@Blondebakingmumma are you one of those Laundry People?

I sleep naked and I wash my sheets once a week.

I keep my fanjo between my legs, so it's not like I'm rubbing it all over my blankets...

blushmelikeyou · 04/06/2019 19:40

I normally sleep naked but when I do wear pjs I never wear knickers underneath them. Don't know anyone else who does tbh and my kids don't wear underwear with pjs either.

SuperMumTum · 04/06/2019 19:43

Defo no knickers under pjs unless I'm on my period. Have v heavy periods so need cup + towel and change at least once in the night. I hate the "confined" feeling of wearing knickers at night and do a little cheer when my period is more or less done and I can go back to just my baggy pjs. Don't usually change them every night but they do get a regular wash. I love clean, fresh, baggy pj bottoms.

Ideatcakeforbreakfast · 04/06/2019 20:00

I always do as I don't have enough pairs of pyjamas to be changing them every night from discharge stains! Though I've been told I'm weird because I should let it air! 😂 I never let it air and I've managed to not get thrush.

LemonScentedStickyBat · 04/06/2019 20:04

So weird how people come on these threads and announce what is definitely the ‘norm’. How would you know what everyone else does in bed at night.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 04/06/2019 20:06

monstrance it’s not about being filthy, it’s about women producing vaginal discharge. Clearly some more than the others. Thanks though for deemed women filthy because of female physiology.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 04/06/2019 20:07

My night knickers are bigger and looser than the daily ones. Can’t sleep if the elastic digs in my groin!

RedWineAllMine · 04/06/2019 20:08

I wear pants, and pantyliners under my pj's. (Wear pantyliners every day anyway)
Surely if you didn't wear pants you cant wear them twice. What a waste of water if people actually wash them every day.
You're not crazy.

RedWineAllMine · 04/06/2019 20:11

I'm assuming no one ever gets discharge here....?🤔

MightyAtlantic · 04/06/2019 20:13

I wear pants day and night. I can't actually sleep without them on, it feels too weird!

cookiechomper · 04/06/2019 20:14

No unless I'm on my period. I wear clean pjs each night though.

Jolonglegs · 04/06/2019 20:14

I always knicks under my nightie, and fresh knicks in the morning to start the new day: its part of my waki
ng up routine.

Stravapalava · 04/06/2019 20:16

I do and so do my DC. I'm not sure where it comes from though as my DM thinks it's weird and I never did when I was a kid!

origamiunicorn · 04/06/2019 20:18

Not this again🤣 There's a PJs related post once a week... How often do you wash them, do you even wear them, do you wear pants? Must be in the top 10 Mumsnet posts of all time. 😆

MyNewBearTotoro · 04/06/2019 20:29

I almost always sleep in pyjamas and always wear knickers underneath as itt feels weird to me if I’m not wearing underwear and I feel hyper aware of every crease and seam of the pyjamas. I do like to feel really tucked in though so my pyjama too is tucked into bottoms and bottoms tucked into socks, I run cold and would be absolutely freezing most nights if I slept naked; there is the odd night in the summer I might be too hot and lose the pyjamas but I still keep the knickers on. I have big comfy pairs especially for sleeping in which I change into before bed (and then another clean pair for the morning). Having your bare bottom out in bed feels sort of unhygienic to me unless you’ve just showered and I think I would just feel over-exposed.

mookinsx · 04/06/2019 20:35

I remember being a child and not wearing pants until one time my cousin was ill with the runs and we had been spending that day with them so mum told us just in case we got upset stomachs to wear pants - it's felt comfier and more normal ever since
Also I change pants daily and pyjamas as often as I feel appropriate so I feel perfectly clean and shower daily

QueenBeex · 04/06/2019 20:38

Never wear pants under pjs, ever!

Ironmanrocks · 04/06/2019 20:41

Pants have gussets which equals a flat area to cover your bits - pj's do not - it would be all sharp and uncomfortable! I couldn't sleep like that!!

BarbedBloom · 04/06/2019 20:43

I sleep naked and only wear pants under short skirts anyway. I hate feeling confined, don't know how to explain it

Blondebakingmumma · 05/06/2019 01:57

God no, hate laundry. That why I wear underwear to bed.
You change your underwear each day don’t you? If you don’t wear knickers and sleep in your pjs all night (6-9 hours depending)....
To me it would be like wearing the same pair of underwear all week without changing 🤷‍♀️

EBearhug · 05/06/2019 02:04

Usually sleep makes unless it's really cold, but no knickers unless it's the heaviest nights if my period, in which case knickers and giant pad, and I still need to get up to change at least once in the night.

Bluerussian · 05/06/2019 02:10

Normal vaginal secretions are not 'discharge', they are normal and cleansing. I can't imagine secretions being that copious during the night when you're lying down anyway. However I am very much in favour of wearing clean knickers under PJs.

tiedy · 05/06/2019 04:53

Yes I wear pants under pyjamas too. I find it more comfortable to have a snug cotton layer down there to absorb any moistness and prevent rubbing.
