The exam conflates sex and gender. Even worse, some examiners are claiming that children who answer the question with "sex" are being marked down.

I remember having a question in my own GCSE Biology exam over a decade ago where the premise was entirely false.

It claimed that free range chickens lay fewer eggs than battery chickens, which is false, and then asked you to state why. Having kept chickens at home for years I knew that was bollocks, and wrote in my paper why it was bollocks, and what factors actually affect egg production.

I like to think that response gave me my solitary A* result...
