I cleaned my extractor fan last night after frying chicken. At least, I tried. This morning it's still sticky .
Is there some kind of miracle product/cloth/technique that I can buy or use to sort it out properly?

Elbow grease...
The best thing I’ve ever used.
Spray on and leave for a few minutes..

FaithInfinity · 03/06/2019 08:20

Elbow grease! B&M sell it for 80p.

twinklebee · 03/06/2019 08:22

I'm glad you asked this. I shall look out for some. Cillit Bang has been recommended on here as well, and it works well.

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 03/06/2019 08:24

thank you both - although are you sure sending me off to ask for elbow grease is not like sending the apprentice off to buy striped paint Grin? B&M is a long drive but will see if Tesco/Asda/Home Bargains has it.

HG filter degreaser. Put the filters in a tray or the bath, add the product and dilute with hot water. Leave. Rinse off with shower head. You can see the grease coming off. Fab stuff.

ExpletiveDelighted · 03/06/2019 08:24

Steam cleaner.

Soola · 03/06/2019 08:26

Fairy power spray is brilliant.

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 03/06/2019 08:26

Soda crystals are brilliant for this.

Fozzleyplum · 03/06/2019 08:41

I put the filter in the dishwasher.

wowfudge · 03/06/2019 08:44

Sugar soap. Much better than Elbow Grease ime. Buy the crystals from an ironmongers or DIY shop and make up with water in a spray bottle. Lasts for ages.

fishonabicycle · 03/06/2019 08:52

White spirit.

CadburySpira · 03/06/2019 09:02

Just be aware that Elbow Grease is so strong it cleaned the temperature numbers off my oven! I think any of those extra strong cleaners would do the same so keep them away from anything printed on your extractor!
