I have upto £1200 to spend on a new mattress and bed, and until now have had the cheapest of the bunch. I'd like king sized, but other than that, dont know where to start!

Bensons i-gel mattress - very comfortable and in your budget

Ariela · 02/06/2019 22:41

I've just ordered for a relative a bed & mattress from Dreams. She went into a branch, tried them all, and selected the ones she wanted. Gave me the description, ordered online, selected delivery date, they phoned on morning of delivery to arrange a 2hr delivery slot, arrived in the time frame, delivered bed and mattress, and collected old mattress(for £25).
So can vouch for the process, don't think you'll be disappointed!

But you DO need to go into the shop and try them all, as everyone's tastes in beds varies. Previously I've used John Lewis and been very pleased for us.

Bed from made.com, mattress from Eve. The total was around / less than your budget and it is king sized.

We’ve just had a mattress from eve. King size too. I absolutely love it!

Paddingtonthebear · 02/06/2019 22:53

Mattress from John Ryan by Design. It’s fab.
Bed frame was from Warren Evans who unfortunately went out of business last year

Urbanvoltaire · 02/06/2019 22:54

Sleepeeze Westminster pocket mattress from mattress online, divan and headboard bought separately. Honestly, the best mattress I've ever dislocated on. A lot of high end hotels use sleepeeze (friend is a GM).

Urbanvoltaire · 02/06/2019 22:55

Slept on not dislocated.

Hadenoughofitall441 · 02/06/2019 22:56

I brought mine 12 years ago in a4gos, I’d defo recommend 😊

livid1234 · 02/06/2019 23:03

We've got a Premier Inn bed (you can buy them online, we didn't smuggle it out with the towels)! Grin

PickAChew · 02/06/2019 23:03

The problem with these sorts of threads is that you get as many suggestions as there are mattresses out there!

You need to go bounce on as many mattresses as possible, read as may reviews as possible and then suss out what your priorities are. Springs, foam or both, natural or synthetic materials if not going for foam....

We think we've narrowed down what we want, but aint committing, yet!

MintyCedric · 02/06/2019 23:07

DD and I both have this bed from Bensons, The combo of sprung with memory foam topping is fabulous,

Sensaform 6000

QuestionableMouse · 02/06/2019 23:08

Mine's from ikea. Frame was £60 and the mattress was about £100. It's pocket sprung with memory foam and super comfortable.

CointreauVersial · 02/06/2019 23:10

We went to Dreams - and yes, would recommend. We went to a showroom and tried out loads of beds, thinking we wouldn't have a clue, but when we lay on one particular bed we both went "oooh!" Like Goldilocks, it was just right.

NanooCov · 02/06/2019 23:12

Our bed (and the one in our spare room) were not from dreams and I would recommend them too.

nancy75 · 02/06/2019 23:13

You really need to try because everyone likes different things. My top tip is get the biggest bed you can fit in the room, we have a super king size & I would never have a smaller bed again

Charley50 · 02/06/2019 23:14

I've got a Bensons for Beds HipHop bed, which is lovely and looks like it's from Habitat.
I've got an Ikea mattress. Can't remember what it's called but I'm always happy to get into bed.

AntsMarching · 02/06/2019 23:18

I bought from a local shop, but the mattress brand is Harrison Spinks. Absolutely love it and was worth every penny. I got a super king and it was around £1800. The king would be less and you could go for a mid range which would put you within budget.

MummytoCSJH · 02/06/2019 23:40

Bed frame from ikea, cheap mattress from amazon and a lovely memory foam mattress topper from ikea 😁

AlexaShutUp · 02/06/2019 23:41

Ours is from ikea. I don't like it!
