It's my birthday tomorrow

I'm so lonely. And tired of being strong. Single mum to 3 amazing dc so will plaster a smile on for them but I'm homesick, heart broken and just fucking exhausted.

Single mum ( widow) to 2 Dcs here, empathising with you, because birthdays are important and we all want to feel loved and appreciated.
Can you go out for tea tonight? Someone else cooks and no washing up. Or at least get to M&S Food and get some nice things to eat/ drink and a little cake?

In your lunch hour, can you go and buy yourself a few treats?? Some bath oil, a book, a new lipstick or top or something? I find in these circumstances, you have to accept that you've got to make it happen yourself( Just like everything else in life...) but it is worth doing. Tell your kids they've each got to make you a card while you have a bath.

Depending on DCs ages, after school can you give them a tenner and send them into Boots or a supermarket to choose something for you. It's funny to see what they come up with.

I think when we put on a brave face for most of the time there can be one thing that just pushes all your buttons and the grief comes out. Birthdays are challenging as they are about celebrating yourself, and you’re not feeling that. I hope you’re having a great party tea with the DC’s, maybe play a silly game, or have a kitchen disco.

I’m feeling very guilty too today as friends birthday (she’s divorced) & we were going out with our dcs for pizza but I’m laid up with (end of) flu. I feel so guilty so we said we are moving her birthday a week. Can you do something like that if you wanted to? I’m her only friend & it meant so much to her.

Wow just came back to this and thank you all so much! I've had a good day. I didn't cry once . I went to frankie and Bennys with the kids as they love it, and my boss left me skip out a bit early too.

I'm exhausted from being so upset yesterday so am planning a bath and an early night once the dcs are in bed. Thank you for allowing me wallow and making me feel heard.

My b'day is this Sat & for some reason DH thought a camping weekend would be just the thing & it's going to pee it down all weekend & we'll be us two, two DC & a very large smelly dog all sharing the tent..... maybe not the bday of my dreams, but will try to look on the bright side regardless!
