Baby drinking coke from a bottle

papergate · 01/06/2019 22:00

Saw this earlier and was horrified!

Baby maybe just over a year old crying in pushchair.

Mum gets bottle of full fat coke out from under the pram, fills up babies bottle and hands it to the baby.

I honestly cried when I saw the baby guzzling down the cola like it was milk.

How can anyone think this is acceptable?

Well it’s obviously not ideal but it’s really none of your business.

Sparklingbrook · 01/06/2019 22:01

You cried? Really?

Totally shit parenting, but nothing you can do about it.

EAIOU · 01/06/2019 22:04

Should it of been diet?? 😂😂

OP with all due respect, none of us are ideal parents. We do our best and some very poor choices are and will be made a long the way.

Please don't get so upset the next time you see this as no doubt you will see more of similar events at different ages in childhood.

Enjoy your weekend!

spugzbunny · 01/06/2019 22:05

I mean it's shocking parenting but ... you cried? Do you cry at great works of art too?

WorthingLass · 01/06/2019 22:05

Not really any of your business but yes, shoddy parenting. I have a 3 year old and wouldnt dream of letting her drink this poison yet. Only me. Wink

I saw a 3 year old drinking dr. pepper. This shocked me, let alone a baby. Not something you can really do anything about but terrible, lazy parents.

TheBrilloPad · 01/06/2019 22:06

Never visit the Sistine Chapel.

Sparklingbrook · 01/06/2019 22:07

Maybe the child was thirsty and that's all she had at that moment.

You could have bottled your tears for it to drink?

FlibbertyGiblets · 01/06/2019 22:08

Yeah not ideal. Would I be sobbing into my pillow? Nah.

Anothertempusername · 01/06/2019 22:08

You could have bottled your tears for it to drink?

😂

Biancadelrioisback · 01/06/2019 22:09

You cried? Actual tears?

M0reGinPlease · 01/06/2019 22:09

@Sparklingbrook wins the Internet tonight! 🙌

FlibbertyGiblets · 01/06/2019 22:10

Tish tish Sparklers, tears far too salty.

gamerchick · 01/06/2019 22:10

You cried?

It isn't ideal but there are people in this world who let kids drink tea. I judge that.

KMoKMo · 01/06/2019 22:10

I agree OP. Terrible parenting setting children up for a life time of issues.
Similarly I’m gobsmacked at the number of children I saw on holiday recently with sun burn. No wonder the NHS is where it is.

mintoreo · 01/06/2019 22:13

Cried... really... I mean I know is not great parenting and I'd definitely not think that positively of anyone doing this regularly, but its not the end of the world and crying seems an extreme reaction! Confused

Grin at bottling your tears for the baby.

PortiaCastis · 01/06/2019 22:13

Good grief

spugzbunny · 01/06/2019 22:15

@gamerchick

Oh ... my baby has the odd sip of tea. Is someone going to cry? Is it that bad??

Passthecherrycoke · 01/06/2019 22:16

Bit 80s.... hard enough to track down full
Fat coke these days apparently

AnybodysDude · 01/06/2019 22:16

I really hate it when people refer to fizzy drinks as "full fat". How much fat do you think there is in a bottle of coke?!

It's full of sugar, of course, which is worse, but it just really grates on me.

Deccax · 01/06/2019 22:18

What’s so wrong with tea???

My 3 year old loves ‘tea’ ie hardley any tea mainly warm milk water. I had no idea that was so terrible Shock

TheInvestigator · 01/06/2019 22:19

I saw this once. It was years ago and I just didn't think before I blurted out "omg. You're my actually giving your baby a bottle of coke, are you". I didn't realise I was talking until it was too late. She did look ashamed/embarrassed but I was bright red and felt really bad for blurting that out.

Chinks123 · 01/06/2019 22:19

I’ve seen a baby being given coke in a bottle too. I can’t say I cried but I definitely don’t think it’s acceptable. Dd is 6 and is still not allowed fizzy drinks, however I have friends with kids age 2 who are allowed. None of my business and I say nothing, but the young baby I saw drinking it made me feel quite ill.
