Total 1st world problem but how do you pack a sunhat without squashing it?

I have a lovely sunhat which I want to take on holiday but am worried about it getting ruined.

I'm veering between wearing it on the plane Grin or doing a trick which I read about which involves putting it in the holdall upside down and packing it full of underwear. Anyone done that, Does it work? I don't have a rigid suitcase.

Alternatively can anyone recommend a nice foldable/packable hat?

I do the upside down thing, socks inside and under the brim

Stuff it with knickers and leave a hole in the packing for the crown to sit in. Then layer on top.

Oh yes - and it goes in upside down,

Fab will do that if it works then. Didn't really want to buy a new hat!

Thanks
