Can anyone name these dinosaurs?

My 3yo ds is dinosaur mad but I'm struggling to help him name these dinosaur figures. I've tried googling but I'm still not sure.
I think the red one might be a gobisaurus and the dark purple one looks like a stegosaurus but doesn't have the spikes on the end of its tail like the other stegosaurus in the set.
Can anyone help me or could your dinomad dc identify them? Thanks!

Hi Op... I think the red one in your first picture is an ankylosaurus. My DS (now 18) was dino crazy too!

iklboo · 01/06/2019 12:09

The green one looks like iguanodon, I think.

megrichardson · 01/06/2019 12:15

I think the pink one is definitely an Enid, the red is more like a Trevor Grin

I'd agree with ankylosaurus and iguanodon in the first picture - the other one looks a bit "generic" but maybe it fits something.

In second picture, there's a stegosaurus.

I got this info from a dino-crazy boy: me, about 40 years ago. Blush

Sixgeese · 01/06/2019 13:25

By name do you mean what type of dinosaurs are they or what you should call them?

I had two toy ankylosauruses when I was a child, I called them Big Thump and Little Thump, I am not sure the red one is a anklosaurus, the end of the tail should be a club shape not a fork. (Hence Thump in the name of my toys, I was never one for original names, my black and white stuffed rabbit was called Blackie Whitie)

DadDadDad · 01/06/2019 13:32

Good spot, Sixgeese - sometimes these cheap toys are cobbled together with only a passing level of faithfulness to an actual species.

Usuallyinthemiddle · 01/06/2019 13:34

Annabelle, Denise and Ian.

MadSweeney · 01/06/2019 14:21

I disagree, the one at the front is most certainly an Angus.

emeraldmoon · 01/06/2019 15:55

Hahahaha sorry I wasn't clear I meant the type of dinosaur.
@Sixgeese I agree I don't think the red one is an ankylosaurus and when googling looked more like a gobisaurus.
Bit annoying if they're just made up dinosaurs as we bought them at the Natural History Museum

Stegosaurus tail spikes are called thagomizers. True fact. Learned so much from Andy.

Fatted · 01/06/2019 21:55

IMO cheap multi packs of dinosaurs don't actually look anything like what they actually should.

We have a 6YO dinosaur expert in this house. Really recommend getting a dinosaur encyclopedia (with a helpful section on how to pronounce the names!!).

SnugglySnerd · 01/06/2019 21:57

I spent ages trying to identify dd's plastic dinos and then noticed it was printed on their under carriage!

forgotMyusernameAgain · 01/06/2019 22:08

I just showed my son who is a dinosaur geek and he says they are all madeupisaurs

TheBullshitGoesOn · 01/06/2019 22:10

nose I remember the Far Side cartoon that first introduced the term thagomizer.

The red one definitely isn't an Ankylosaurus as it is missing its club. It could be a nodosaurid but no idea which one.

I expect that actually they are just poor representations of generic dinosaurs rather than deliberate attempts at lesser known ones. Sorry.

And I think the green one is Godzilla.

noseoftralee · 01/06/2019 22:22

Tweet the natural history museum?

noseoftralee · 01/06/2019 22:23

bullshit everyday’s a school day Grin

insertrandomusername · 01/06/2019 22:29

I'd say the red one was supposed to be an euoplocephalus ... ds' favourite dinosaur apparently.

LottyNotty · 01/06/2019 22:32

My Dino crazy son says:

First Pic
Red = Ankylosaurus
Pinky/Purple = Iguanodon
Green = Probably made up

Second Pic
Dark One = Stegosaurus
Pink = Another stegosaurus type armoured dino, maybe a Tuojiangosaurus

Genderwitched · 01/06/2019 22:36

I think that the Iguanodon is the purple one in the first pic , because of it's sticky up thumbs. And stegosaurus in pic two.

emeraldmoon · 02/06/2019 09:10

Thanks for your help everyone, I think you're right the pinky/purple/blue one in the first pic is an iguanodon.
I don't have twitter but I could email them.

Have you turned them over and really REALLY squinted at them under a floodlight? They look strikingly similar to DD's set, which have the names in slightly raised same-colour plastic underneath...

emeraldmoon · 02/06/2019 10:05

I did, they all say 'china' 😂

OP posts:
Astrid0208 · 02/06/2019 10:09

Are they on the museum shop website?

emeraldmoon · 02/06/2019 11:34

Just checked the website, it's the dinosaur model belt pack, they don't list the names and the picture actually shows different dinosaurs than what we got in ours. Looking at the review another mum was once in the same predicament as me.
