Hi all, just wanting a bit of advice and to see whether any other mums have experienced the same or similar symptoms as I’m starting to worry.......
I gave birth to my LO in Feb 2018. I breastfed and am still breastfeeding - albeit not nearly as often as he was. Because of this I didn’t have any period until the end of april this year. However...... since then I’ve had period after period with only a 4 or 5 day break in between :( . It’s left me feeling exhausted and drained most days and just when I think I’m feeling better after a few days break - a new cycle starts! I feel like I have a constant hangover without the joy or getting drunk every night! 😂 has anyone else experienced this and is it normal? I went to the docs who advised going into the mini pill however I’ve since been told by friends that they bled continuously on this so I’m reluctant to go on to it. I don’t want to mask if there is infact a bigger problem of that makes sense. Has anybody else experienced this??? X

Yes I experienced this after dc2. I went to the doctor and they said it was iron deficiency weirdly. I was put on iron tablets and I think it settled but to be honest I was soon pregnant with dc3.

Thank you for your response :) weirdly it's nice knowing someone else experienced it too and I'm not alone! Out of interest - did u have a blood test? I didn't have one but the doc looked at me and said 'well u don't look anaemic!' That isn't much reassurance to me thou 🤦🏻‍♀️ x

I'm sorry I can't remember. I don't think I did, but go back and ask for one. I have been anaemic a lot in the past so maybe the doctor saw my notes?

Changed my name by the way!

Ah ok, that makes sense if you have previously been anaemic then. But yes I think I shall go back and request one as its getting me down being so continuous :( thanks again x

I continuously bleed on all methods of hormonal contraception so I wouldn’t advise that. What I would advise is to ask for norethisterone which works to stop bleeding, it’s not a contraceptive. I’ve used it before to prevent periods and it’s brilliant. You also need to request a blood test for anaemia.

You have my sympathies, I’m currently ten days into a period, also breastfeeding. It sends your hormones haywire Sad.
