Worst Parenting I Have Seen!

I was just driving home and whilst stationary at a set of traffic lights I noticed in my rear view mirror a child in the front seat of the car behind. I noticed her because there was smoke coming from her window which was down. My first thought was that her mum was smoking in the car which would have been pretty shitty but no, the child who I swear was no older than 11 was vaping! Then another child appeared from the back who sort of lent forward between the two front seats and she was also vaping. The second child looked to be around the same age as the first. As I pulled away the mother and both girls were all vaping!

Dear God, what sort of parent would allow this? If this isn’t shit parenting I don’t know what is! .

The woman who held her toddler over the fence at Edinburgh zoo so her toddler could pet the pygmy hippo, next to the sign saying "Warning! Do not touch the animals!"

The woman who called her approx 5 year old a little cunt and slapped him across the head.

I was on safari at Kruger Park in South Africa. You can self drive there - there was a pick up truck in front of us with kids - all of them under 12 I'd guess- in the exposed truck part of it. Tail gate down. We were parked up near a massive male lion who was waking along the road, sniffing around all the cars and looking up at the pick up truck with kids in. It wouldn't have been a stretch for the lion to have been able to jump up and maul the kids should he have felt like doing so. Because of the lion there was quite the traffic jam, so had the lion attached I'm not entirely sure what the parents who were driving the truck would have been able to do - driving away at speed definitely wasn't an option! Appalled at the poor judgment there from the parents, leaving there kids easily exposed to dangerous wild animals!

Attacked sorry, not attached!

OP that's just the worst.
I get depressed at the sight of so many lame parents.
I am no moral compass setter. But man, that is just terrible.

Why do they have kids? I see them in the playground- the shouty fishwives holding their can of Foster's in one hand, a fag in the other. They have this weird thing of ranting and raving at their child/children one minute, then parading their child/children around the playground as if they're parent of the year. And they're SO loud, like everyone HAS to know that they exist. It's SO tedious. And they look around to see if people are looking. It's the most twisted form of attention seeking. Sorry to go off, but I had this the other day with a mum who lashed out at me when I asked her if her child could stop lobbing plastic water bottles full of sand at random kids coming down the slide. I should never have asked. She was purely awful. It wasn't worth the aggression.

I cannot understand why anyone would cape
If they have never smoked.

What’s the point? The only people I’ve known to vape were the ones who were quitting smoking.

Pinkvoid · 01/06/2019 10:17

Probably nicotine free and trying to be cool but I agree, it’s not great parenting.

Firstimpressionsofearth · 01/06/2019 10:24

To be fair, letting an 11 year old cape isn't necessarily bad parenting. She might of given them the vape to get them off the fags.Smile

I'm of an age where kids riding 5 in the back 2 in the boot was normal.

But if you wanna see bad parenting, a woman on another thread put factor 30 on her baby instead of total block!!!!!!!! Grin

A delightful mother waving her child off as he went to get on a bus with an older lady (presumably grandparent).

As they walked off towards the bus stop I heard her shout 'Oi! Come back here you little shit...come and give me a fucking kiss...'

Lovely.

CharDeeMacDennis · 01/06/2019 11:15

A woman I saw years ago walking ahead of us with her DC maybe 4-5 yrs old. She unwrapped a pack of fags and dropped the cellophane on the ground. Her DC ran back, picked it up and tried to give it back to her. She said "FFS" and threw it back on the ground.

Just, ugh. The DC was a) being helpful and b) doing the right thing re: litter. And that's the lesson that DC learned that day. Don't bother Sad

Small thing but I've never forgotten it.

A lady at swimming frequently tells her daughter angrily "i'm gonna punch you in the face if you do that again."

Firstimpressionsofearth · 01/06/2019 13:44

@TheVanguardSix

Where do you live?

Are there really mother's with cans of fosters in the play park?

TheVanguardSix · 01/06/2019 16:14

firstimpressions I’m in London. Yes! They had their Foster’s! A step up from Strongbow, I guess. The Foster’s wasn’t so much the whole problem though. She was so aggressive and mouthy. You seem surprised. Where do you live? Grin

DancingintheSpoonlight · 01/06/2019 16:28

Saw a 4 year old telling his parents to fuck off yesterday. Don't get me wrong I know they pick up all sorts from nursery or school...But 4.

MrsHardbroom · 01/06/2019 16:30

I've just heard a bloke in the swimming changing rooms calling his c.7yr old boy a 'fucking puff' and telling him that his feet 'fucking stink'. If we are having a race to the bottom...

Firstimpressionsofearth · 01/06/2019 19:39

@TheVanguardSix

It just seems like something out of shameless. I did used to live in London but I never frequented play parks.

WorthingLass · 01/06/2019 19:48

At soft play i saw a 3 year old drinking full fat dr.pepper. Hmm

Firstimpressionsofearth · 01/06/2019 21:11

Stompythedinosaur · 01/06/2019 21:41

When I was a student nurse I did a placement in a children's forensic mental health ward, it was a specialist ward so some of the teenagers came from right across the country. I worked a lot with a 14 yo girl who was desperate to see her mum, but her mum couldn't afford the train fare. I went to a big effort to get her local authority to fund the transport and accommodation for a visit, helped the mum with getting ID that was acceptable to enter the unit.

On the day of the visit the family used the train tickets to spend a weekend shopping in our city, but did not visit their child. She sat waiting for ours, with a cake and card she'd made. It broke my heart.

Stands out for me as some pretty shitty parenting.

IvanaPee · 01/06/2019 21:44

Stumpy that is horrific!

How did you know they went shopping? Please don’t say they told their dd that!

JeremyIronsBenFolds · 01/06/2019 21:51

In the toilets in a shopping centre, mum and son coming out of the cubicle in front of me. Little boy goes to flush the toilet, mum actually slaps his hand and said ‘don’t touch that, it’s dirty’. I always wondered who the disgusting people who didn’t flush after themselves were, seems they get taught young. (I appreciate public toilets can be grim, but this one was clean, and at least grip the handle in loo paper if you can’t face touching it. And you’re going to wash your hands after, ffs).

toastfiend · 01/06/2019 22:03

A baby drinking full fat coke from a bottle, and I watched the mother fill the bottle up so I'm not just assuming that's what it was. It's not the worst thing I've seen, but it's pretty crap parenting.

Woman calling her little boy a cunt in the supermarket.

The bloke down the road who frequently can be heard screaming at his kid and calling him a "fucking little wanker", among other choice phrases. Some people are scumbags. It makes me so sad for their children, what a shitty, shitty start in life.

UnderPompeii · 01/06/2019 22:05

user actually I think I'd have to report that, poor poor child SadSadSad

Madmarchpear · 01/06/2019 22:12

Why do the virtue signallers here descend to tell us we have misheard, lied, misinterpreted when we see these things? I live in a very deprived city and it gives me no satisfaction in telling you this goes on with alarming regularity.

MysweetAudrina · 01/06/2019 22:26

Full sugar coke and dr pepper I presume and not fat as I don't think there is any fat in them. And why say full fat even if you mean full sugar as would it really be any better or worse if it was the diet version?

polkadotpixie · 01/06/2019 22:28

Walking round the market at Ingoldmells with DH a few summers back I saw a family with Mum & Dad both smoking fags...not great but not the end of the world

Then I saw the oldest boy (approx 10 years old) was also smoking and so was the youngest (probably about 7 years old)!

I was absolutely speechless. I genuinely couldn't believe my eyes that a parent would ever give their young children cigarettes. I'm not easily shocked but I was truly horrified
