ADT

Does anyone else have problems with ADT? We had a system installed in 2010 and it has never worked properly. We have complained many times and have had to have just one engineer out to maintain it because no one else understands how it has been installed. However not long after activating the alarm,if we were going out, 5 minutes up the road and we would get a call saying it was going off. I did enquire about getting it removed completely but that would cost us hundreds of pounds! The latest incident was far more serious when we received a call at around 5am saying our fire alarm was going off, I told ADTs caller several times that it wasn’t, bearing mind the fire/smoke alarm is right outside our bedroom door, however when my husband went into the hallway he could hear a faint alarm coming from our den where the main study is located. We have complained to ADT in writing but they just want to install a new alarm and us to sign another 24 month contract. However we have lost all confidence in their products. Further responses from ADT are dismissive telling us they consider the case closed even though our fire alarm is still not working, this is since the last week in March. Engineers they have sent out are completely baffled by the installation, one actually admitted that this is a known fault with this particular alarm system!
If you are considering installing an alarm I would strongly recommend you look at companies other than ADT.

We had similar - when we did the loft extension we discovered that the extended alarm system had never been activated. This was discovered during a routine check six months later. We've disconnected from monitoring and now don't use the alarm as it needs a reset code and they want to charge us several hundred pounds to do this.

They were excellent when we bought the system 20 years ago but customer service is rubbish now.
