British TOADs can CHIRP!!!! How did I not know this?!

So had to rescue a toad from my garden because my cocker spaniel wanted to eat him.

I'm carrying Mr Toad to safety and he starts chirping like a bird!! It was bizarre. How have I got to my late 20's without knowing they can make a noise like a bird?

Sort of like a sustained trimphone (showing my age here!).

I guess Mr Toad was saying thank you. I did not know frogs squealed until our cat made a beeline for them.

I learnt that frogs screech when distressed when one of my cats brought one in.

Cat appears accompanied by horrendous screeching noise and I thought something was wrong with him until I saw frog's legs sticking out of his mouth Envy < not envy.

I rescued the frog which looked more or less unharmed and took him outside. Bastard cat brought back what was probably the same frog about an hour later so I had to rescue it again and took it further away, right down to the stream behind the house. Didn't see it again so hopefully it got away.

Christ frogs make a racket

Flibberty that's amazing! It sounds and looks like a squeaky dog toy.

I'm shocked about the squealing/screeching frogs too.
