DD10 got me this plant for my birthday. I've no idea what it is or how to keep it alive - I don't have a great track record in that department, so any advice about where to keep it and how often to water it would be appreciated

Fantastic, thank you! Looks like the key to these types of plant is not to over-water, which I have a bad habit of doing.
