Child-free week - where should I go?

The last few years have been really stressful, including getting divorced and moving house. My ExH is taking the DC on holiday in August and I will have a week where I can go away for a break. But I can't decide where to go/what type of holiday to have! The main thing I need is to unwind and destress. I'd be grateful for any suggestions!!

Exciting! What’s your rough budget and how close to home or far away do you wish to travel? What do you enjoy doing?

Budget?

Ragwort · 30/05/2019 20:36

Budget?
Overseas or UK?

Vegas!

What are things you love to do or use to love to do but don’t get to any more? Plus budget?

I would avoid anywhere with children, and choose something adult free. We were on holiday last year, and a couple next to us were having a child free holiday, and the mother spent the entire week crying because all of the families around them reminded her of her children, I felt really quite awful for her.

My advice would be to go for a city break, with sparkling lights and lots going on, New York or Florence. Somewhere you are likely to make new friends and really enjoy sans children.

Adult only - not adult free obv!!!

likeawreckingball · 30/05/2019 20:58

Lol @notabedofroses! I think I'd like to keep it around £1k so probably rules out Vegas, New York etc. It's been so long since I had time to myself I'm open to new ideas about what might be fun. I like reading, spa, exercise. I think I would like something where I could meet other people but also have time to myself.

Adult only Cruise. You can mix with people at mealtimes, see lots of interesting places, and relax on deck with a good book/go to the gym/spa.

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 30/05/2019 21:49

Yoga retreat?

leghairdontcare · 30/05/2019 21:57

Does 1k include spending money? Or is that just for flights and hotel?

likeawreckingball · 31/05/2019 09:43

Thanks everyone. Ideally 1k in total including spend. I don't mind not going for the full week and also happy with staying in the UK. I like the thought of a spa/yoga retreat of some sort, does anyone have any specific recommendations?
