Waterproof watch?

Can anyone recommend / signpost me to a ladies' waterproof watch, suitable for swimming (as opposed just to showering)? Analogue face rather than digital.

I have been on Amazon for quite a while and despite using various search filters, including 'swimming', 'sports' and even 'diving', the results that come up stipulate in the description that the watch is not to be used for swimming - and by 'waterproof' what they really mean is that the watch won't be damaged by some splashes while washing or if it rains! Or the ones that describe themselves as up to suitable for up to 100m are ones that have bad reviews indicating that they leak!

Ideally I'm looking for one with a slim strap (or at least a watch that isn't over large / clunky). Not looking for funky sporting extras or health monitoring etc.

Many thanks!

Amazon won't have the best range of everything.
Try googling diving watch as a diving specific website or watch website will have greater range

Some of the Garmin watches have an analogue face as well as all the features of a smart watch. I've got the vivomove HR and it's fully waterproof.

Ah - had been thinking of Amazon as the place to purchase everything!

I guess the next challenge is finding a watch in a cheaper price bracket than the above watched (though the Garmin one is beautiful!)

I like Fossil watches and the website gives good information about what the 'water' rating means, eg:

www.fossil.com/uk/en/products/the-commuter-three-hand-date-stainless-steel-watch-sku-es4331p.html

The one linked to above is described as 'water resistant' but then goes to say that it has a depth rating of 5 ATM, which they say means that it is wearable around household sinks or while swimming in shallow water. Do not wear bathing, snorkeling or scuba diving.

Which is ridiculous. 5 atm means under 40 metres of water, so why describe it as rated to 5 atmospheres, but not suitable for 'bathing, snorkelling or scuba diving'. What is the difference between bathing and swimming and why imply that it will survive 5 atmospheres pressure when it won't.

I think you need one that says waterproof not water resistant. That should mean that it can survive actually being immersed in water.

Yes - and those nonsensical descriptions repeatedly appear on Amazon just when you think you’ve found the perfect watch! Hmm

Swatch watches are usually waterproof

StarlightLady · 30/05/2019 13:11

I second the Swatch suggestion.

I’ve been looking for one as well - have found this but can’t find any helpful reviews so not sure....
