Ive been back just over a week and i am genuinely ill, i work from home so my illness impacts no one else but words are jumping around on the screen and calling clients is off the cards as i have no voice. I cant call in sick realistically though can i without looking awful!?!

Depends on workplace. It's really common (in my experience) for parents newly returned from parental leave to be off sick at the beginning - while their child settles in to nursery and picks up every bug going and brings it home with them. I'd be sympathetic of I managed you. You can't help it of you can't work. It will be forgotten in a few months if you perform well generally.

I don't feel like it would be well received ay all. I think I'm going to have to just do my best to make it through the day

I was off sick on my second day back at work! I got home in the first night and started throwing up. I was sick all night so couldn't go the next day. I felt awful and really embarrassed.
It would probably be better to be off sick than make mistakes because you're trying to work whilst I'll.

I went back to work after maternity for literally 1 day and then had to call in sick. I felt so awful about it and I can imagine what they were saying about me. 10 years later and I’ve got a great attendance record, very rarely off and known for being reliable.

Take the time off that you need. Hope you feel better soon.

Feeling horrendous but struggling through, i couldnt face the hassle of a return to work meeting yet
