I consulted Dr Google and now I think I might have leukaemia

I NEVER ask google, wish I bloody hadn’t now.

Over the last two weeks I’ve been knackered, body feels like a lead weight, breathless when talking, dizzy, head swooning, vague background headache, weird bruising on my hands and arms. Not knocked myself at all but I’ve had 4 big purple bruises come up. I thought they were burst blood vessels which I do get sometimes.

Non smoker, underweight, don’t drink.

Google basically says I’m dying 🤦‍♀️

Google isn’t a doctor. Do make an appointment with a GP.
I have five of those symptoms. I know it’s nothing life threatening for me. Donget yourslef checked out though and I hope you feel better soon.

This is one of the bruises about a week old

Maybe you should go and see a proper doctor, and ASAP.

First things first. Vitamin C? Eating enough fruit and Vit C heavy vegetables every single day?

And yes, you should go to the doctor and have a blood test for the fatigue and bruising.

Freakingouttt · 29/05/2019 21:10

@MrsExpo, I’ve just checked online, first appt is 22 June!

Absolutely not eating enough fruit and veg. Salad in a sandwich and a piece of fruit on average.

All those symptoms including the bruising are also signs of anaemia (which I have). Get yourself checked out but don't stress.

Freakingouttt · 29/05/2019 21:12

Anemia is a good shout! I couldn’t donate blood last year as low iron. Maybe it’s gone low again

You do realise that Dr Google got his qualifications from Mars don't you? Your symptoms suggest a whole wealth of things. I don't mean to offend, but your arm is very thin, and if you're so underweight this could give rise to many of your symptoms, unless the weight loss has been very sudden without trying? (In which case it's more likely to be bowel or stomach cancer).

Freakingouttt · 29/05/2019 21:19

@soontobe60, no it doesn’t offend. I’ve always been very thin, no sudden weight loss

Google told me on the weekend I had an ectopic pregnancy. I even made my dh buy pregnancy tests. I have the implant and I just had gastro, Nothing life changing like a 3rd baby or an ectopic Grin

Walnutwhipster · 29/05/2019 21:36

I have anaemia that is regularly treated with iron infusions. Before diagnosis I had every one of your symptoms.

Hi OP, I'm a nurse. Get an appointment with your GP or practice nurse for this week.
If you can't then go to A&E this week. I know it's not an accident or an emergency, but you are right that one of the things it could be is leukaemia. I very much doubt it is, but you do need to get that checked, and you shouldn't wait until 22nd June.
One of my DC started getting lots of bruises when he was small. One day my DH called me and said have you seen all this? He had about 20 bruises, but they were strange. Lumpy, quite strong colours.
Anyway, rang a friend who was an A&E sister and she said go to A&E first thing in am. This could be serious. Of course DH googled!
A&E was mental, it was near Christmas. Staff were lovely, clearly felt it was serious and needed checked ASAP.
Turns out his platelet count was 0. He had a condition called ITP. They think it was as a result of a virus (24 hr bug) he had 5 months previously!
He needed to have his blood checked regularly for a while (finger prick test),, and it rectified over the next few months.
He was otherwise well.
I'm sure it's nothing but definitely get checked sooner than 22nd.

Cassavaflower · 30/05/2019 07:20

I was going to say ITP too. My mum had it and she nearly died, her platelet level was 3.

Absolutely not eating enough fruit and veg. Salad in a sandwich and a piece of fruit on average.

If all you're eating is salad and a piece of fruit you may just be vitamin c deficient. Your body doesnt store it so you need to get enough, ifnnot every day, then almost every day.

Google scurvy (disease of vit c deficiency)and see if that makes sense.
But also go and get blood tests.
