Where's nice to live in/near Weston-Super-Mare?

Everyone I've spoken to is really negative about WSM but I can't believe the whole area is as bad as some people make out! DH has got a job opportunity in the southeast of WSM so I've been looking at places in Locking, Uphill & out as far as Sandford & Winscombe. Anyone know if they're decent places to live?

Well they are better than weston as weston is a dump. Houses are cheap that's the upside. You will get a nice house alth3in a not brilliant area. You'd be better looking further afield TBD. Look at Clevedon it's lovely

My friend lives in Locking and loves it there. She relocated from the Midlands for her husbands job. They never regretted it.

I live in WSM and I love it. I'm sick of people trashing it. There are parts which aren't so great [even Clevedon has it's downsides, I've lived there too] but the rest of the area/North Somerset is absolutely fine. You have to know where to go. Lots to do and good road and rail links to get to the rest of Somerset, Wales, Cotswolds, Bristol, Dorset and Devon.

Sandford, Churchill, Congresbury, Locking, Uphill, Winscombe, Lympsham, Brent Knoll, East Brent, Axbridge, Wick St Lawrence....all nice places to live. There are very nice properties around for affordable prices.

I grew up in WSM and loved it, still go back to visit often. We lived in between the two big parks, Ashcombe and Grove Park. As teenagers we could walk to town or the beach easily and took the bus to visit friends in the villages often.

Weston has come on a lot since the 1990s where it was a bit rough but now its much better.

Have you tried the area around West Wick? Lots of new or newish build for a good price round there.
