Bored at work despite having stuff to do - anyone else?

Does anyone else find they get so bored at work despite having stuff to do? I think the problem is when I do what needs to be done I'm going to be so up to date and not having anything to do so I'm just dragging it out. So I'm sat here working, browsing mumsnet and just bored.

Yep, I do. Have asked for more work repeatedly over the past 18 months. None has been forthcoming, so I handed my notice in and will be free of the place in a month, yay! Job hunting like mad right now (I am very lucky that I have the option to quit before getting a new job), but the relief I feel is worth the tedium of completing application forms.

Yay congrats! It's the same with me when I ask for work, I either never get any or it's shit I don't wana do haha! But I actually like my job and where I work I think it's just I've got into a bit of a rutt with it and am always bored. Glad you're feeling happier now you've quit though!

I'm bored too, but at least I have unlimited internet access all day so spend most of the day multitasking, so could be worse !

Yea that's very true pumpkin do you browse anything productively or facebook like me? lol

I have done my stuff for today. Will do other stuff as it arrives.

I am only here because I work Mon-Thurs and it suits me.

• Does your firm have an intranet site that you could become more familiar with?
• What about in-house training: either classroom based or online? The updated skills would come in handy if/when you left.
• What do the other departments do: would/could you get involved there?
• What else would you like to do (without being landed with grunge jobs)?

I'm supposed to be marking exams but reading a different mangling of the same answer time and time again makes me desperate.
