Anyone taken B12 supplements and did they make a difference? (mainly to extreme exhaustion)

Just that. Started to take them yesterday and am wondering how long they may take to 'work'?

I haven't been officially diagnosed with B12 deficiency, but the results of a blood test showed high MCV/MCH levels and looking into that, it seems this could be down to low b12 or folate levels. The doctor said that because the levels were only slightly raised (although flagged as 'abnormal'), they wouldn't follow it up.

I do suffer from ME, but am always thinking that it may be down to something else and if I can just find out what it is, I'll be cured!!

Probably a good idea to have your intrinsic factor checked first. Otherwise you may as well take smarties ....

Thanks, DGRossetti - will look into that.

Agreed - oral supplements won’t work if you’re not absorbing properly. You can get your own tests done via something like Medichecks - intrinsic factor antibodies, GP antibodies and active B12 would be good to do.

Also vitamin D - I also have ME and was seriously deficient, supplementing with high dose vitamin d plus k2 and magnesium has helped somewhat
