Universal credit and overlapping tenancies

Hi all

I will be signing a new tenancy soon with my partner which starts mid June. I currently live alone (with kids) and my existing tenancy runs until mid July.

I want to stay where I am until july as it means my son can stay in his current school until the end of the school year.

When must I inform uc of a change of circumstances? As soon as I sign the tenancy or when I actually move? Ideally I don’t want to tell them until I have moved as I don’t want the amount of uc to change (partner works full time) until my circumstances actually change.

Would this be okay? Or am I expected to tell them the moment I sign the tenancy despite not moving in with him at that point?

I don't know exactly, but I do know you need to provide your tenancy to UC for them to calculate it. so it's likely they'll backdate it to then anyway and you'll need to pay back any extra you've been given.
