Straw poll wedding gift amount

How much would you give as a wedding gift to a cousin who has requested cash as gift? Partner and I are day guests. I'm also currently on mat leave so not rolling in it. Will be travelling for wedding and having to stay away for 2 nights.

£50

£50 plus a bottle of champagne/ £75

£50 for a cousin and day guest.

I have a rough idea for most occasions.

Acquaintances or extended family you're not close with £30, particularly with an evening only invite.

£50 for closer family or friends and all day invite.

£100-£150 for very close family or best friends (obviously would be all day invite if that close)

And bugger all for anyone grabby or demanding or someone who invited me all day but not DH. Especially if I would have to travel and be alone all day.

£50 is plenty.

IvanaPee · 28/05/2019 10:55

€100

DameSylvieKrin · 28/05/2019 10:56

£100 seems to be standard in my circle (home counties)

ExpletiveDelighted · 28/05/2019 10:57

£50 here too (£30 for evening only).

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 28/05/2019 11:02

Id say £50 but £30 is fine if you are stretched at the moment

hidinginthenightgarden · 28/05/2019 12:12

£50 is a really good amount. If struggling for cash I think that £30-40 would be just fine too.

BackOnceAgainWithABurnerEmail · 28/05/2019 12:18

£30-50 but don’t bankrupt yourself! If you can’t afford it they should just be grateful for your presence.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 28/05/2019 12:31

I'd have ignored the request for cash and gone with a nice bottle of something given the travel involved. I hate being asked for cash though.

IvanaPee · 28/05/2019 12:32

Why would you waste money on stuff, adding to the pile of unwanted stuff choking the planet, when you could just hand over the cash?
