Off to Costco for only the second time ever later today or tomorrow. What should I look out for? Any things that are particularly good to get from there?

I was in the Manchester one a few weeks and managed to pick up some truffle oil for 2.97 that was originally 20 over Xmas Smile

WoogleCone · 28/05/2019 09:24

Look at the offers on cleaning products, I bulk buy here as it often works out a lot cheaper than buying individual items from the supermarket.

Their own brand Kirkland is really good, I get the loo roll.

Books are always wonderfully cheap, box sets a fraction of the price so maybe go I with your xmas list too!

CabbageHippy · 28/05/2019 09:26

Meat is always really good quality, Butchers Hook sausages are awesome, can twist them into smaller ones if you want to, lamb burgers are lovely.

Their own brand kitchen towel is great, really massive sheets on the roll. I've not been for about 3 years but the frozen salmon fillets used to be good value.

Drogonssmile · 28/05/2019 10:24

@CharleyFarleyy it's the Manchester one I'm going to!

Great suggestions thanks I will look at the cleaning stuff and kitchen roll. Good to know the meat is good too.

Vodka! I can't off the top of my head think what it's called, marshmallow flavour, on offer when I went Thursday to £11.98 and it's so smooth you can drink it straight 😍

Also halloumi fries and a ready cooked pizza for the drive home

Drogonssmile · 28/05/2019 10:31

Excellent thanks @greyspottedgoose
I'm quite chuffed I got a good groupon deal £33 for membership with two chickens, carrot cake and a £10 voucher off my shop.

greyspottedgoose · 28/05/2019 10:46

That's an amazing deal! Also the rotisserie chickens are amazing

ALemonyPea · 28/05/2019 10:52

The giant muffins are great, 2 packs for £5.99 and they freeze well, as do the scones.

I'm going later today. Love the place.

flippyflapper · 28/05/2019 10:53

The cakes are amazing.

Also the ready made Lasagna is heaven

PrayingandHoping · 28/05/2019 10:54

Their Kirkland brownie mix is amazing. Just add egg water and oil

Bluesheep8 · 28/05/2019 11:18

Sheepskin boots! Better than emu boots

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 28/05/2019 11:33

Lots of stuff we get has already been mentioned, but I do have a few more to add that we find to be good value:
Tinned tomatoes
Tinned tuna
Rice
Pasta
Olive oil
Sunflower oil
Mayonnaise
Fruit - pears, apples, bananas all very good
Cat food
Cat litter

Try not to get sucked into bulk buying things you won't get through before they go out of date - for example, the coleslaw is lovely, but will you eat a kilo of it in the next few daysSmile.

Also, be wary of the size of things - the cornflakes and ketchup are great value, but the boxes/bottles are so huge we can't fit the packaging in our kitchen cupboard.

Mominatrix · 28/05/2019 11:34

Was just there last week (London Hayes):

  • large bag of financier tea cakes
  • Wagu beef burgers
  • Organic Fruit juice ice lollies
  • Frozen Portuguese custard tarts
  • frozen Chicken Tikka filled naan bread
  • Fruit, although they strangely did not have strawberries last week
  • Laurent Perrier champagne: currently £23 including VAT. They also have magnums of Laurent Perrier under £50
  • Flax seed mix (great to sprinkle in porridge, cereals, yoghurt, and smoothies)

Also:

  • batteries
  • sponges
  • Vanish tubs
  • tinned tomatoes
  • Nando marinades
  • pasta, both dried and fresh
  • medjool dates
hidinginthenightgarden · 28/05/2019 11:39

Their fresh ready meals are amazing.
Fruit is fab and bakery products pretty cheap.
Chicken tenders also a must!

ACurlyWurly · 28/05/2019 11:58

Flash lemon....massive bottles and so cheap. i have been refilling my old spray bottle with these for years and they last for ages. also massive bottle of hand soap to refill the bathroom ones. reduces waste and costs a lot less.

PrayingandHoping · 28/05/2019 12:21

Just an aside.... certain things are only cheaper if you always buy branded items. For example their tins of tuna are branded, if you usually buy an own brand supermarket then the Costco ones are more expensive. So just a heads up. You have to shop smart 😉

bestbefore · 28/05/2019 12:35

Does everyone pay for membership here??
Any idea for deals on membership?

tentative3 · 28/05/2019 12:39

You should get batteries too with that deal, we did. Do you meet the eligibility criteria? They were still checking people did at ours, regardless of whether they had bought membership or not.

I second the muffins and the cat litter. There are plenty of other good things, including the meat, but as pp have said the prices aren't always cheaper, you're just often getting better quality for the price.

Drogonssmile · 28/05/2019 14:10

Great suggestions thank you all! @tentative3 I did get batteries as well yes. Luckily I work for the health service so met the criteria but yes they did check. I was very restrained and didn't spend a ridiculous amount. I can imagine if I'd gone with DH or the DCs it would have been a different story. Going to be eating chicken and carrot cake for the next few days now Grin

The packet mix brownies, best brownies you will ever have!

TheBitterBoy · 28/05/2019 15:08

Halloumi fries in freezer section, yum!

Also second the tinned chopped tomatoes, olive oil and six packs of pasta, great value.

They do a big vat of maple syrup which is great quality for the price, I decant into a smaller bottle and keep the big one in my back fridge.

Kirkland dishwasher tabs work just as well as the branded ones, I also buy big boxes of persil and the 5L bottles of fabric softener.

Troels · 28/05/2019 15:44

A fresh cooked whole pizza. Dinner sorted. Does yours have a petrol station, I always used to fill up.
I bought lots of Kirkland brand stuff.
Chocolate chip granola bars.
Cheese
Loo Roll
Laundry detergent
Allsorts of things.

LadyR77 · 28/05/2019 15:50

Loving this thread, we've got a branch opening round the corner from my office in July so will definitely be a regular customer there!

What sort of prices are their petrol/diesel?
