How old was your child when they started going to bed after you?

Just curious. This is happening for the first time in our house tonight.

He was out with friends for most of the day today, for the first time too. It's a weird stage of parenting when they're gradually getting more and independent. I'm finding it quite fascinating.

What age did this happen for your kids?

Ds is 12 and does this sometimes as I’m a total early bird

About 5 Blush
In my defence he has disabilities and only sleeps for 3 hours a night, I literally couldn’t stay awake any longer so made sure bedroom was safe and locked etc, he’s 9 now and I think I’ve descended into exhausted madness

I think we are on the cusp. Dd just turned 13 and is easily up till 930 or 10. I used to be a night owl but am.just so bloody knackered all the time I quite regularly leave her just having fallen asleep then go and lie down myself

My 14 & 11 year olds are asleep now 😴

I go about 11 o'clock.

Perhaps I am mean but I must have at least an hour alone at night before bed Wink

From about 13 there would be some nights where my eldest would be up after me. I get migraine and would lock up and remind her to get to bed before the birds got up. Now she’s later teens it’s swings and roundabouts, depends on who is more tired. We’re both up tonight as I’m tumbling her favourite bed blanket :o

My 15 year old was supposed to come up just after me last night as I was shattered but stayed up until 1am on the Playstation Angry

thatsthegirl · 27/05/2019 23:05

@floraloctopus that would be my worry - that he'll put YouTube on the TV and pull an all-nighter. Leaving me to deal with his foul mood tomorrow!

Quite. Getting them up early is justice done but how to put up with them....? Hmm

Trying to get mine to go to bed now but not winning as it's 1/2 term.
