On the cheese continuum, is Lionel Ritchie retro or tragic?

My parents' wedding song was Stuck on You

And I really, really want it to walk down the aisle to. So far everyone I have said this to have assumed I'm joking.

Is it that bad?!

Lionel is bloody wonderful. His songs are timeless classics.

I might be a similar age to your parents as I had a boyfriend at the time who had to travel a fair way to come and see me. He would phone when he left and I would put his album on my record player and play Stuck on You for the line - “Guess I’m on my way” and play it over and over along with Tina Turner’s album Private Dancer.

Wow that takes me back and I can remember it like yesterday. Mixture of happy and sad.

He's great, his songs are timeless. I saw him in concert many years ago with an older relative but I really enjoyed it.

He was very funny as a judge on American Idol, gutted its finished now. He's 70 this year Shock, how good does he look for his age?

Ignore them all, it's a perfect wedding song.

Corndog · 27/05/2019 19:16

Wonderful

FudgeBrownie2019 · 27/05/2019 19:46

He is God. Perfect wedding song, perfect everything, stop doubting yourself and enjoy your day.

Lionel is class. You couldn't get better. Anyone who doesn't agree has no taste.

LittleAndOften · 27/05/2019 19:55

Amazing. I will never forget watching his Sunday afternoon Glastonbury set on TV a couple of years ago. He just brought the place alive. Completely timeless.

yellowalstroemeria · 27/05/2019 20:02

I forgot he played Glastonbury!!! That surely must earn me cool points.

I love that song so much.

He’s fantastic. I’ve seen him live three times!

Kernowgal · 27/05/2019 20:29

Saw him live a few years back and he was brilliant, completely genuine and having a great time. He’s still got the moves too.

HappyGirl86 · 27/05/2019 21:20

I LOVE Lionel! My mum always listened to him when I was younger and I've seen him a couple of times in concert.
Stuck on you is one of my most favourite tracks.
You have what you want....it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks Smile

Wonderful, we were just talking about him in work last week. Everyone loves Lionel Grin.

AlexaAmbidextra · 27/05/2019 22:58

He is fabulous. I won’t hear a word against him. 😄

Sn0tnose · 28/05/2019 09:18

I’ve seen him live and he was flipping brilliant! And I think people would only think you were joking because you haven’t picked a recent song that everyone would expect. We went to four weddings last year and every one had the same song playing as the bride walked in. It was a nice song but didn’t quite evoke the same emotions time after time. That is definitely not going to happen with Lionel.
