If a friend and I go tomorrow for lunch together can she order 2 mains with a 241 meerkat code and I order a starter with tesco vouchers?

I know you can't use 2 at once in a single order but we are paying separately.

Bump

You can usually only use one offer per table on that sort of thing, so assuming that you both want to sit on the same table, they might not let you.

But I suppose it's always worth asking nicely if they will allow you to order as you suggest to use both vouchers.

Otherwise I'd just use the two for one and save the Tesco voucher for another time.

RapscallionKat · 27/05/2019 16:48

Eurgh. Seems unfair. What if a few families were going together?

I'll ask.

And people wonder why the Jamie Oliver’s group had to shut, causing 100’s of job losses

So so sorry it’s ‘unfair’ to pay for what you eat OP ....

skippy67 · 27/05/2019 16:59

^^ this.

pearldeodorant · 27/05/2019 17:03

Tesco vouchers can't be used in conjunction with any other offer. It's written in their t&cs and is standard for any of those discount things

RapscallionKat · 27/05/2019 17:31

It's also not fair that I'm disabled and live off pittance and I only eat out when I get my tesco vouchers but heyho. And that my friend has been forced onto universal credit and this is the first time we have been out for lunch since February.

I'm sure the multi million pound companies tesco and zizzi havent been forced into this promotion.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 27/05/2019 17:32

You'd need to place separate orders, the toll wouldn't allow both through otherwise - so technically you might need to sit at different tables. If it's not busy and you get a nice staff member, I'm sure they'd sort it out for you.

Poonmig · 27/05/2019 17:35

OP - I am truly sorry about your situation, I really am. But it doesn’t entitle you or anyone else to a free meal at anyone else’s expense (even if that is a large corporation).

RapscallionKat · 27/05/2019 17:35

It was only a question. Just make the assumption that I'm being a skinflint rather than trying to be efficient as I can with the small amount of disposable income I have this month, whilst trying to have a day out and feel like a regular person for one day rather than a 'poor person' who can never do anything outside my home.

RapscallionKat · 27/05/2019 17:37

How is it free? Surely meerkat movies and tesco have some arrangement with zizzi.

Should people not use the meerkat code because they are getting a free 2nd meal Confused

I have spent money at tesco that entitles me to the codes

My friends spent money on insurance that entitles her to the 241 code

I simply asked if we can both use them

I don’t work for Zizis but have worked somewhere similar and I think there is no way they would allow this.

It states clearly on the T&C of the Tesco vouchers that they can’t be used in conjunction with any other offer and Taste card (which is essentially what Meercat is.

There has been a big crack down on Tesco voucher abuse in chain restaurants, so many now have a policy that managers have to ring them through. In some places staff were buying Tesco vouchers online, getting triple the value in restaurant vouchers, then swapping them out when customers paid in cash!

Maybe the waiter would do it if you ask really nicely. I would do it for a friend but wouldn’t risk a disciplinary for a random women. I would assume as well that if she was too tight to pay for a starter she wouldn’t tip me either Grin

RapscallionKat · 27/05/2019 17:39

So if we both walked in separately and sat at different tables and used the exact same codes no one would have an issue but because we are sat together we are doing something wrong.

Generally you can only use one deal so is work out which was a better deal and go with that. I hope you enjoy your meal

AllTheCakes · 27/05/2019 17:41

It’s against the T’s & C’s as you can’t use Tesco vouchers with another promotion. No one is begrudging you your meal out, it’s just that the restaurants have to make money somehow...

AliceRR · 27/05/2019 17:43

You could call them and ask before you go OP

AliceRR · 27/05/2019 17:43

(I mean you could call Zizzi)

BitchyArriver · 27/05/2019 17:49

Sorry about the last part of that comment, it sounds mean.

Cabbagesoupsucks · 27/05/2019 17:50

Meerkat is 241 on starters, mains and desserts. Not one or the other. So you have no issue.

AngelOfDeathNix · 27/05/2019 17:53

You can't use both together

BitchyArriver · 27/05/2019 17:54

Yes but the other starter would have to be paid for with money, the Tesco starter would be ‘free’.

BitchyArriver · 27/05/2019 17:57

Don’t bother calling Zizis as suggested upthread. The corporate office/management will obviously say no. Like I said staff could get in trouble allowing this, chain restaurants are really clamping down on this type of stuff.

unicorncupcake · 27/05/2019 17:58

As a PP said meerkat meals make it free on every course - so you won’t need the vouchers as well

AliceRR · 27/05/2019 18:01

Makes more sense than asking us. Then she will know for sure and if the answer is no OP can plan accordingly

I understood maybe OP and friend were going to order two mains (on 2 for 1 ) and then get the free starter (Tesco) to share between them but I’m not sure.

2 for 1 on two courses seems fair to me but everyone’s situation is different

SparklyMagpie · 27/05/2019 18:02

Why can't you just go and enjoy a main? :S
