is anyone on one of these contracts? if so how do they work, are you paid for 39 weeks or do you get an extra amount of paid annual leave too?

OP you get usual amount of paid leave, the rest is unpaid but your salary is paid over the whole year.
So you get less per month so your extra leave doesnt come as an unpaid chunk.

Or 39 weeks plus 4 weeks pay plus bank holidays divided by 12 months - same as teachers

I currently get 41 days leave per year (including bank holidays) so would I be paid 39 weeks plus 41 days spread out equally over the year or would it just be 39 weeks pay spread out equally over the year?

You'd probably a proportion of the 41 days rather than all of them, to recognise the fact that you don't work full time, due to only working during term time, probably about three quarters of 41 days, but then your pay will be averaged over the year so you get the same salary every month.

Or if you want/need full time wages, is there an opportunity to work extra shifts during term time? Especially if you are on the 13 long shifts a month type arrangement so you end up working, say 45 hours a week in term time and none in holidays?
