Hello,

On Friday I was out a festival. I only had one alcoholic drink and then drank soft drinks. I felt absolutely fine. I then came home and breastfed my 18 mo at about 11pm.
It was disclosed to me the next day that a “friend” had laced my drink with a ‘tiny bit’ of cocaine. I am now freaking out!!! My daughter seems fine & has been fine. I am so angry and upset and just can’t get over what has happened. I’m worried there will be some long term effects as her brain is still developing. I am scared to seek advice in fear that they will think I took the drug purposefully sad advice please. It’s been 48 hours now and she seems fine

It was cocaine but a very small amount as I didn’t feel any real effects. I’ve taken it in my younger days and have a bit of a idea of what effect it would have on me. But it is weaker effects if you drink it.

I no longer soak to his friend as I don’t feel safe.

Everyone is correct though it would be a terribly small amount of a small amount I’m sure you baby will be okay but I wouldn’t want a friend like that!

MujosMama · 26/05/2019 23:55

Your friend is a fucking moron, in more ways than one. I agree with other posters that you should report her to the police. But cocaine is very poorly absorbed orally and only has a half life of about 1 - 1.5 hours. So you probably had very little in your system to begin with and I doubt any was in your milk, thankfully

Sizeofalentil · 27/05/2019 21:17

Thinking about it, cocaine doesn't even really work if you swallow it (it's not like cannabis when you can bake edibles, or pills or MDMA that you can do bombs of), which is probably a good indication that it isn't as easily digested orally.

Are you ok OP? Any updates?

Wingingthis · 27/05/2019 21:41

Yes I am relatively okay thanks. Still can’t stop thinking about it/worrying/feel like a bad mum. After doing lots of research it says it goes into you breastmilk in “substantial amounts” and is one of the worst street drugs you could take whilst breastfeeding. So I’m wondering if there is a helpline or anyone I could speak to that would be an expert on this - to put my mind at ease?

That research is based on people snorting or injecting it, surely? The amount that you would have ingested will have been tiny tiny.

You're not a bad mum at all - you're actually the victim of a crime.

Could you ring a drugs charity or la leche league?

NauseousMum · 28/05/2019 06:56

You aren't a bad mum, you made no choice here. This is on your friend. I hope you tell all your mutual friends to watch out, be distrustful and you dump her/him.

Could you contact your GP today? I'm sure your baby is fine but to put your mind at ease they could check them over.

You should report that twat. Not only are they a complete shit but they could have affected your milk (she knew you were bf too wtaf?) And could easily do it again to someone else: at best a healthy adult, at worse a poorly one or pregnant woman or someone driving who was affected by it.

REDCARBLUE · 28/05/2019 11:48

Report the twat/bitch and then tell everyone why you are no longer friends.
I despise drugs and the people who take them. Absolutely zero tolerance towards them.
